Both my kids ( gal-9 yrs & boy - 5yrs) have sensitive nose. My boy will has nosebleed every 2 to 3 mths once. But these 2 days when he woke up, his nose bleed again and it was quite scary to see both his hand covered with blood. This am, doctor told me tt sensitive nose tends to bleed esp when there is a infection or wound and there is nothing concern about "HEATY" which most of my friend say.
Do your child having this problem and what do yo do, pls advice.

Hi, what you have mentioned about your boy is very familiar...my son also has the same issue. What I have understand from the doctors is that children tend to have thin nasal vessel lining and thus can break easily esp if nose is senstive, weather/environment is very dry, when child is having flu/running nose. I do notice that if my son sleeps in air-conditioned room for too many days, he tend to have such bleeding. Also, if we go on holidays to temperate countries where the weather is cold and dry, it tends to happen as well. I was told by the doctors that once every 2 or 3 mths is still acceptable, but if the bleeding frequency increases, it could be a sign of other nasal problems...then got to seek specialist help.

Thks. So do you think anything to do with "heatiness" like what my mom and others older pple say ?

I agree with Miracle child mommy on seeing a doctor for it.
You can go to polyclinic to get referal letter to see ENT from KK hospital which the bills is much cheaper from there.
My daughter is also having the same nose bleeding and is currently seeing ENT for treatment.

my brother used to have nose bleed when we were young. I think my mum solved the problem by feeding him "Tian Qi" on a regular basis. Seems to work on him. Now adays can get them as capsules in the chinese medical halls.

Agreed. b4 taking any supplements or ways to help with the bleeding, its important to establish the cause of the bleeds. If you start taking the supplements or ways of cure, it may hinders with the diagnosis. Especially if you forget/didn't mentioned to the doctor when you seek medical assistance.

i just brought my elder son to his PD this morning - has nose bleed (1st time experienced it) three times within 1 week. PD said that he either has a sensitive nose or his cold has worsen. PD said that in recent years she had seen an increased in young children developing sensitive noses, and the reason probably due to the urbanised society we live in (smoke, dirt etc). Haiz.

elder son has a fever yesterday, this morning his nose bleed again. really terrible - read so much that nose bleed is very common, but yet stil felt worried enough to want to bring him to the PD later ... haiz .. "money not enough"

I think your boy too "heaty". Is he drinking enough water? Try boiling him barley water or green bean soup?

Some times, we worry too much, we forgot to think "basic and simple". Nose bleeding is typically caused by heatiness. Unless proven otherwise, my advice is think simple.

My little boy now 16.5 months old. I was previously worried about him having too much water. When he was born in March 08, there were news on TV that talked about water poisoning!

But now, I tell myself. My little boy knows what he needs best. He drinks almost 800-1000 ml water daily on top of his milk and three regular meal. Occasionally I feed him barley water. Most people will mistaken him as 3 year-old.
