Does anyone know the reason for the stiffness in leg after the knee cap replacement surgery 2 weeks ago and is this temporary? How to overcome it ?

My mom recently had a knee cap replacement surgery too and was also experiencing stiffness in her leg. Her doctor and physiotherapist said that it's normal. Something to do with the muscles "adjusting itself" after the surgery. Part of the healing process, it seems. Doc said that it may take 3-5 months before complete recovery.

Do you know of any supplements or special diet which my mom can take to speed up her recovery?
