Hi,

Recently, my 13mth girl is not sleeping well at night. She is very tired already but she just wants to wake up and cry during the night. This has been continued after her 1 year birthday. Me and my husband dunno what is wrong with her. At first, she had eczema so we thought that maybe was due to the rashes but now, she had recovered from eczema but still wakes up in the night time. Usually she will take 2 naps in the daytime but now, she only has 1 nap time last about 1 hour or less. Does any mother have experienced this on their children? We really need help.

Thanks

What kind of cry is it? Is it a painful scream? If so, it could be gas in the stomach. In which case you have to burp her more, for example, after her last meal of the day.

If you cannot isolate a cause, try gripe water. It *could* be colic, which is not well understood, but gripe water can help.

Give us more clues, regardless of how trivial they seem.

She is not crying with tears kind. she just screamed and wanted us to carry her to our bed. When we carried and put her on our bed, she tossed and fell asleep again. So we carried her back to her bed and she woke up and cried again. So we carried her to our bed again and let her sleep throughout the whole night.

Daytime, I also dunno why she cannot take a longer nap. We suspect is because of the heat. It is so hot that she can't sleep well.

We suspect that she just wants to sleep with us instead of her bed. Is that true?

Another thing, we realised that her hand palm and leg turn yellowish. Dunno what is happening? Can anyone know and advise?

Thks

Has she been given a lot of carrots or orange/yellow colored vege or fruits over the past couple of weeks? This could cause the yellow tinge in her skin. Give orange/yellow colored vege/fruits only 2 to 3 times a week and not too much.

Hi Angela,

your baby is very smart. she knows who to bully. since, she can zzz with you guys, I dun see any problem.she just want to be with her parents. unless she is crying the whole nite even with you around.

hmm, I think at 13 mths, dun think the baby is having colic.

I think she is just making a fuss. is she alert during the day? playing?if so, no worries.

as for yellowish palm, are you giving her toomuch carrot, pumpkin, papaya, etc? cos these food will cause yellowish skin. try to cut down and you will see the change in few days time.

HTHs.

Try this trick then, when she has fallen asleep and you carry her back to her bed, leave in her bed something that smells of you, for example, a shirt you wore just now or even your spare pillow, etc. (naturally, ensure she won't get tangled/choked on anything).

As for the heat - YES it is a valid reason for poor naps. In extreme cases, it's the best reason to turn on the aircon. If not, try changing her mattress if it happens to be trapping a lot of heat.

Hi,

I think I will cut down the carrots and pumpkin that she is eating everyday.

Yesterday night, she woke up in the middle of the night so I carried her to our bed and she slept throughout the night. So I think she just wants to sleep with us.

Even though she is not able to sleep more hours, she is very alert during daytime. She can play and crawl by herself.

Ha ha ha! She is just very playful.

Anyway, thanks for all the mothers' help.
