speaking of ortho-K, I wonder if any parents have sons on ortho-k? I guess they would have to stop once they are enlisted for BMT? My son has been on it for about 4 years now and he's in Sec 4. Wonder if it is difficult to transition out of ortho K. Lol :)

Dear Parents,

We are aware that we are using myopia control options such as orthok for our children. Additionally, I found this app called Plano app that can be downloaded on your devices and even book eye checks via the app.

Please check it out, as we know that device use can also increase myopia.

Thanks for your reply and sharing! Started this thread to see if there are any sharings from parents whose kids are on Ortho and on the providers too.

Interested in Ortho K, how young is the YOUNGEST candidate you have seen? I am aware some places don't start until 7... My kid is almost 5, just wondering how young. Doesn't have much myopia yet, I am just preparing when the time comes. Also, do you think its smart to invest in Ortho K for decades to come until Lasik happens? Thank you!

My child is 6 and is starting soon. I heard they handled as young as 4! But some conditions need to be met and parents must be extra dedicated and disciplined.

Hi sorry I just replied your PM. We started already and so far so good. I help my kid to put in and take out the lenses as still very young. TBH first time was so hard. I cajoled, promised rewards etc until the kid willing to cooperate.

This is my orthok journey with my child. I believe I am one of the many parents who are concerned with their myopia progression. My child started to squeeze his eyes last year and that’s where I started to be more active in finding out more details in myopia. I brought him to KK for eye check and was advised not to do anything but to observe. He was around 100 myopia then. 7 months later and it shot up to 225 myopia. It worried me because I am not sure how the vision will affect his study in school. My child was happily doing his work and not noticing any bad vision. I asked my peers and was recommended to Jaycob Chin. After looking at the kiasuparents platform, he seems to be using multiple names? Mr Chin, Chin Yan Jie and Jaycob Chin. Anyway, I was connected with him and booked an eye check appointment for my child. The first session took around 1.5-2hrs. I was briefed in the whole process of orthok. I believed this was adjusted accordingly to the me and my child based on what I interacted with Jaycob. I was taught in wearing the lenses for my child, removing the lenses and cleaning the lenses. The reason was that my child was not ready to wear the lenses on his own and I also thought it would be better that I can do it for him. I was taught on wearing the lenses for him, I am not a contact lens wearer myself but the process was easy to pick up and both my child and I were comfortable with Jaycob. There was no pressure and also the steps needed were easy to pick up.
We have been on this orthok journey since the start of the year, Jan 2022. We are happy with the results as there is no worsening of myopia.
