My kids seldom have coke and carbonated drinks. Chocolate yes but still controlled. Bubble tea also strictly controlled.

But when I was young, my diet was not so controlled. I remembered drinking coffee, black with sugar, brewed by my grandfather. I think I was 5/6 yos at that time. I visited every wk and would drink it then. It was delicious heehee. I think I drank more than 1 cup heehee. I'm not a caffeine addict now and I'm not affected by caffeine, meaning I can sleep even if I have a cup before bedtime.

Not advocating to let kids drink coffee at such a tender age as me. Just sharing.

Like Sahm tan, I started drinking coffee at young age. My coffee would always come before milk or breakfast (yeah, it's that bad...). To this day, I am still drinking coffee everyday. Used to be two or three cups until recently, cut to one cup per day.

I am not sure if there has been any side effects on me?

I'm not a regular coffee drinker even though I started young. Recently, I was watching Dr. Oz, fr US, and I learnt coffee can caused cancer. You might want to consider drinking decaffinated coffee or reduce qty. In the same programme I also learned that milk caused cancer too :yikes: but I was interrupted and didnt find out the alternative.

Well it's true. Milk is a carcinogen. Something that has a tendency to turn into cancer cĂ using particles. But I have not heard how much per day is good enough.

We don't drink much coffee. Prefer to drink tea. Even though it also has caffeine, but the anti oxidants out do it.

My hubby was a coffee addict when I was newly married. He used to drink coffee at midnight, early morning.. Sleeping walking anytime. Literally shocked me!

Slowly reduced the frequency n switch to tea, 2-3 times per day.
We do have coffee, may be once or twice a week only

Please don't let young kids drink coffee. I saw a young teenage intern drink 5 cups of coffee daily. One day, he started having convulsions and we sent him to the hospital. All speculated he was on drugs but turned out he was having a caffeine overdose.

I control soft/carbonated drinks and chocolate.
They drink 1/2 cup coffee every morn...in fact they have been drinking this even before they were born...I cannot start the day without it. Surprisingly, I was allergic to many of my fav food during pregnancies but NOT coffee.

Mornings, they sip coffee at the table to freshen up. I don't make coffee as thick as coffee shops.

I once let my 11 year old try my 'teh si'. He just got an instant liking to it.
Then started pleading with me to buy it for him now and then.
BIg Regret!

Lesson learnt:
Don't let your kids try your coffee / tea too early in life in case they start getting a liking to it..
