Energy Booster/Reduce Tiredness

Hi, anyone has any good recommendations for boosting energy or reduce tiredness for children? Chicken Essence is a no-no for my DC.

More sleep coupled with more exercise. A good diet with more fresh fruits and veg, more plain water and less junk food. Enough play time but not in front of the TV or computer.

I agree with all of the above. Back to basics, ie sufficient rest, balanced diet, and time out to play and exercise, is all that is needed. Sometimes when we try other remedies we add more problems to the ones we have. Then it becomes an endless cycle of trying more supplememts.

Listening to our body is important too. If we feel tired, the body is telling us to step down and let it recuperate. For most healthy people, their bodies will heal itself if the owners get the basics down pat.

DS has sleep "issues", he can't sleep early and during weekends, he tend to sleep till noon. Always chase them to bed by 10pm (sometimes 11pm if he still has homework to complete) but he will still end up falling asleep after 11pm. That prob is the reason why he feels tired after school.

Try not to let his sleep during weekends be very different from schooldays. That way, he is constantly 'jet-lagged' and will be tired and sleepy when he needs to be awake. I wake my kids up at 8.30am even during weekends and holidays, and don't let them go to bed later than 10.30pm (they are in sec school, it was earlier when they were younger) even when there's no school the next day. They grumble, but it makes it easier in the long run.
