Hi,

I am worried that my menses is heavy for first few days follow withblood clot. Is it normal to have such problem during middle age. I have seen doctor and scanning which is everything is fine. Anyone encounters this problem.

Hi,

Have you check your Oestrogens (Estrogens) level? Can be done with a simple blood test at any GP.

Blood clots is the shed endometrial tissue (the endometrial lining); it's pretty common, I have that with menses too. Certain food we consume, e.g.. black fungus, dang gui etc will result in heavy menses that flush it out.

If you are worried, should go consult a gynecologist.

Is this just once, or repeatedly? If you've seen a doctor, what possible reasons did he give? I have encountered this occasionally over the past years, but not every month. I'm nearly 50yo. I've noticed that my menses also lasts fewer days than before, so I guess it may be related to hormonal fluctuations leading to menopause (in my case).

Thank you for everyone reply.
It is repeatedly every month and I forgot that how many years. I ask GP and told me it is normal that why I did not bother. Recently, I heard my friend talked about this topic and was told that it is no good to have blood clot that I start worry. I went to see chinese physician just 2 times and she has recommend me to see this doctor for women. She said he is not gynae but another specialists I forgot what she said. I will see him tomorrow. The chinese physician has told me that the doctor may put insert a tablet . I do not really understand what she told me. Therefore, I hope through this I can get everyone advise. Thank you.

I have fairly heavy menses and blood clots since my 20s....so it's like 20 yrs liao.
The clots only were cleared after each caesarian, will have smooth menses for a few months and after that, the clots return.....so I kinda treat it as something normal for me.

In my 30s, I had frequent inter-menses spotting, went to a gynae ~6yrs ago. Diagnosed with multiple fibroids. Apparently my menses are not shed fully each cycle, it remains inside & caused the uterine lining to thicken......hence the blood clots ie. shed endometrial tissue. After a few years of monitoring, reached a point when lining too thick so had a D&C just to ensure no abnormal cells formed. After the D&C, menses was smooth for a few months, but soon the clots returned

Anyway, I am still under monitoring for all these.......so I guess, the best is see a gynae.

I used to have heavy menses but it got heavier after I developed fibroids. As the fibroids are causing me more problems than they should technically based on the size, my gynae's advice is to insert mirena.

Since you have seen a gynae and there is no fibroid detected, maybe you can consider TCM or avoid certain food. I notice that I have few clots when I increase my dosage of omega supplements.

Hi coolkidsrock2,
I have seen the chinese physician and she told me that I have womb swollen in layman term actually it is adenomyosis. The chinese physician also tell me to insert mirena and she introduce this gynae to me to do a scanning to confirm.

I am still considering whether to insert mirena. I am very worried and what to do.

Did you inset mirena after your gynae's advice?
