HSA seizes 4 illegal slimming products

Postby tankee » Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:42 am

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Health Sciences Authority has cracked down on four illegal slimming products that have been sold online.

The four products were VTOX Trim Up, BONJOUR, CURVY Pearl Beauty slimming orange juice, and V12 Fruit Slimming.

HSA said its laboratory tests show that the four supposed slimming drinks, which are popular with online buyers, contain sibutramine.

The substance was not declared on the products' labels.

HSA said sibutramine is a potent medicinal ingredient for weight loss and has been suspended for sale in Singapore since October 2010.

It advised consumers to stop the use of these products immediately and to consult their doctors if they feel unwell after taking these products or have other concerns about their health.

HSA reminded consumers to be careful when purchasing health products online...........

The problem is that the items sent for tests and certification can be different from that eventually put onto the shelves.

Most of the consumers searching slim products online without knowing where it came from. A lot of slim product hot selling in Malaysia from those reseller and there claim that it was approved by their MOH...
They ever never check the products content or visit the showroom, just base on those reseller comment online.
I did check with one of the reseller in Malaysia for the slim product named Thinsline (Approved by Malaysia MOH), some more having ISO logo... But when I asked for the Singapore Health Sciences Authority (HSA) certificate, the reply from them was " We failed the inspection".
At least, consumers have to search for the good & bad comments online, know the product content and product origin. All lot of such Slim products was imported into Malaysia and REPACK. So consumers will just purchased from the reseller online ...
Compare to those Quality Slim products in Singapore, at least it have the HSA certificate and it was safe to use.
Can't understand why some consumers like to look to cheap price but much to good quality, reliable ... How to conpare a branded LV bag with a bag cost $20 . :? End up having side effect and waste money and time.
Price cheap don't mean good. Pay for peanut price and u will only get a peanut!

ISO is a certification of process compliance not a certification of product.
