Hi,
I am trying to identify exercises to keep my back healthy.
There are so many choices in the market - Pilates, Yogilates, Yoga, Abs/Butt/Thigh, and so on.
Can some kiasu parent help me figure out how to look for a suitable exercise regimen? I will do the course in Community Club or Sports Complex. I need to figure out which is the most suitable for me.

If you have existing back problem or chronic pains, go for Pilates and choose a reputable studio with machines. After your back and core are stronger, then consider yoga under a reputable teacher.

You can consider Pilates Bodywork. They are the real deal.

If the exercises will be done to relieve back pain, I would suggest to check with your doctor first to ensure that these are safe to do. I've mentioned in a separate forum that I was diagnosed with a mild form of rheumatoid arthritis. My doctor Leong Keng Hong recommended me stretching exercises, including pilates :D

I've also done yoga and barre before but I find pilates to be calming and less stressful.

Yes I agree with this. So far all the yoga and pilates studios I have attended require me to fill out a form to declare pre existing conditions and get doctors advice before attempting the classes. Reformer pilates might be easier for beginners compared to mat pilates and yoga.
