Oh dear, please get her to take blood test ASAP, otherwise it can turn out quite bad...breathless, very fast heartbeat (long term detriment to the heart), need to bring it down quickly, neck swollen ... eyes "pop out" (1 course usually takes abt 1.5 to 2 years, depending on condition) ...

She might need to take steroids to help with the problem, really needs to see doctor. My sister has this condition.

Main symptoms for hyperthyroid are weight loss, diarrhea, feeling hot and shaky hands. For hypothyroid, the symptoms are opposite. Once a person has thyroid problems, the only way to test is thru blood tests. Got poked countless of times that I have become immuned to it.

Once, I asked Eu Yan Sang TCM physician if can treat hyperthyroid. He said he need to view the blood test report 1st.

Hi,

I have thyroid disorder and was diagnosed when I was in sec sch too. There are generally 2 types of it - hypothyroid and hyperthyroid. Pls encourage her to go for a test as only then she'll be able to know exactly which type she is and get the right medication and advice. Since mentioned she has seen doc, did the doc mention which type she is? Ever asked TCM in my case (hypothyroid) but its not helpful.

I was lost too when I was initially diagnosed but over the years I accepted it. Today I am a mother of 2 kids. Pls help me tell your friend dd don't despair, be hopeful. Everything will be well again. :)

Thank you for being so encouraging :) Her dd is extremely afraid of the needle so has not been poked yet and the dr didn't confirm is thyroid disorder.wonder what were the symptoms you had when you were a teens? She has lost quite a lot of weight ,has constipation, indigestion and stop menstruating. Her mum is worried sick ,all the medication prescribed by the dr didn't work.wonder is there any side effect for the thyroid disorder medication?

Thanks for sharing

Hi Peirce,

unfortunately, there's no other way but blood test to really determine if she's even having thyroid disorder. I'm curious, if no blood test done, doc didn't confirm, then how did it arrive to this conclusion that its thyroid disorder? Doc suggested?

I have always been very healthy and actively in sports when suddenly I started falling sick very frequently and getting breathless easily. I tend to feel cold easily when ppl ard me are feeling hot. Feel tired very easily and my menses comes twice a month some times. Literally, my body seems very not right. So did a blood test at polyclinic and that's how I discovered I have thyroid disorder. Luckily I was still in time....my blood test result was showing really underactive gland which probably explains why I was experiencing all the symptoms. Can be very damaging to health especially when I was in my growing years.

Thanks for your reply. The dr was just suspecting it.Were you on medication for along time? Any side effect?

Thanks
