I no longer can take any of these caffeinated energy drinks coz it led to palpitation, which is worse than feeling sleepy!

I've encountered foreign workers taking a few cans a day...almost like an addiction and I've always wondered if it's related the those sudden death in foreign workers reported some years back.

i hope by regularly, they meant daily.
is energy drink same as sports water?
my 7yo takes 200ml x 2 times a week due to sports; his rate of perspiration is very high and i was told that too much water consumption is not so good.

The teenager I mentioned above actually drinks 100 Plus a few times a week since Secondary 1 because he plays soccer a few times a week. He is 18 years old now and he has high blood pressure, his heart rhythm has problem and something wrong with the heart (something about the thickness of something. It usually happen with athletes but the cardiologist can't be sure.). The mother is so worried but this boy is so addicted to soccer. She doesn't know what caused the son's problems.

To me plain water is better anytime than sports water. But it is just my opinion.

Looks more like the redbull type of drink...not the electrolytes replacement soft drinks

The energy drinks refered to in the article are caffeinated ones, and I have heard that these drinks can have higher caffeine content than coffee! So I can believe that drinking them will be bad for young people. 100+ doesn't contain caffeine and its main purpose is electrolyte replacement after heavy sweating, not to give 'energy'.

There is no need for sports drinks unless one is doing serious continuous training for stretches of over an hour or running a marathon.
