My daughter is going through the 'chicken pox' phase, but has yet to recover. Just as a precaution in case there will be scarring after her recovery.

What do you all recommend to remove them? Preferably looking for inexpensive solutions before I bring her to the doctor.

Sigh dd2 got chicken pox despite having her vaccination.

Doc prescribed an anti-viral medicine for 5days to suppress it. Is it necessary to eat that? I remember in the olden days, my grandma would say it's better to let the chicken pox comes out. Anyone can advise?

There is probably no need to take the antiviral medication if you choose not to let her take it. Usually, even if the chickenpox vaccine did not give protection, the outbreak will be mild. The only benefit of the antiviral medication (as far as I know, but I am not medically trained) is that it reduces the no. of pox and the severity of the outbreak. But since chickenpox is not a dangerous illness, there is probably little risk. You should confirm with the doctor first.

the vaccine is not 100% guaranteed. it's just that the outbreak will be less severe. the medication is to ease the discomfort. kids & i had the chickenpox jab...when son got it from his classmate, the rest of us were also affected but hubby got the worst...terrible outbreak for him.

Thanks! Doc says may miss 2weeks of Sch if don't take medicine but will most likely miss only 1 week of sch if take the medicine. So I bought the med.

Now I've decided not to let dd2 to the med after googling the side effects. Her outbreak is v mild compared to what I had when I was young. Regret buying the med.... It cost a hefty $60 for 5days supply!!!

anti-viral medication must be completed. for those who had jabs, the outbreak is definitely more comfortable with just a few spots. I remember having to dump the single mattress when hubby had chicken pox. thank goodness it wasn't expensive. before going back to school, doctor must verify that child is fine.

Have you started giving her the medication? If not, would the clinic allow you to return it? Or let it be known among friends and family that you have it, so they don't need to buy it if any of them gets chicken pox within the expiry period!

remember daughter's anti-viral med was an emulsion...so if it is the same, cannot be returned.
