MAGNOLIA Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Milk with DHA Omega-3 claims that :
"Moms can now make a smart choice! and it is fortified with DHA Omega-3 to ensure that your child receives all the nutrients needed for brain, eyes and heart health. A perfect way to attain good health from head to toe !"
I checked the Nutritional Information Panel on the side of the milk pack and realised that it only contains a meagre 0.5 mg of DHA per 250 ml glass.
Are there are any evidence-based studies to show that a 0.5mg of DHA has any health benefits for both adults and children?
According to European Food Safety Authority, the recommendation for children is minimum 100mg DHA/day with child’s daily meals !!!
As a parent, I find their advertisements totally misleading and subliminal. As parents, we're already so bogged down by tuition, exams, paper chase and we do not need manufacturers to exploit us for commercial advantage.
I really think the relevant authorities should do something and not
allow marketers to manipulate our choices with such misleading messages
