Eczema remedy?

I have eczema and when it flares up, it is coupled with urticaria (hives). My eczema is not localised but all over the body, very similar to chicken pox.

My dermatologist prescribed steriod cream and Aqueous moisturiser ($3/tube 100ml) but only works if it's a mild eczema. They don't seem to help if there is a flare-up.

My gf introduced me to Physiogel AI cream. It is effective but very expensive @ $37 for a 50ml tube. My son has eczema on his hands and feet too and I'm also using the AI cream on him.

Does anyone here has a good recommendation of moisturising cream that works for eczema but doesn't cost a bomb?

I like Egoderm Ointment when my eczema flares up. I will put a thin layer of my usual steroid cream, then put a generous amount of Egoderm ointment (non-steroidal). It has helped control the itch and cracks.

When it has cleared, just use the ointment on its own as a maintenance cream.

I find the usual moisturizers such as Physiogel and Cetaphil useless when there's a flare up. Egoderm is cheap too.

It is a must to use ointments instead of creams for areas such as hands (palms) and feet.

Thanks for your recommendation.

For Egoderm Ointment, is it available at any pharmacies? Need any prescription? And how much is one tube?

Available at the shelves. No prescription needed and only about S$5 a tube.

Try to identify what leads to the eczema flare ups.

I realise if I eat too much sweets (artificial colourings), my eczema comes along.

My DD has eczema & I had tried many products like QV etc. However, all are not workable for her till I found this Aloe Vera gel. After she tried, the rashes subsided and now, whenever she has eczema, I will apply on her skin. It is an organic so even if she accidentally eat it, do not need to worry.

If anyone keen to know more, kindly pm me or email me at [email protected]. I will try to answer your question.

I used to have eczema and so did my son. We no longer have them.

We were given steroid creams and even though they were able to relief the itch and rashes, it would come back after a while.

I discovered that those things we are applying on the outside are just treating the symptoms of eczema. These creams don't treat the causes of eczema.

The causes ranges from toxins in the body, contributed by the food and drinks we consumed, the polluted air we breathe in daily, the chemicals that is in contact with our skin. These toxins overloads the kidney and liver and the burden of detoxification falls on the skin, the largest organ in our body, resulting in skin problems such as eczema. Our modern diet is one that is acidic and will cause many forms of degenerative diseases. Most forms of hydration like bottled water and soft drinks are acidic and oxidizing, which causes our body to be acidic and also contributes free radicals in our body which is damaging to our cells and organs.

Stressful lifestyle is also a major contributor to eczema as you are not giving your body system the rest which it needs.

As the digestive system takes in nutrients so that the rest of the body functions properly including the skin. Eczema may be a signal that something is wrong with one's gastrointestinal tract.

So before you run out and waste money to buy another cream or steroid, you need to get rid of the cause to your skin problem. One simple way is to change your drinking water which is what I have done for my family and it has helped me and my son. I am sure everyone can do that.

What kind of water do you use? My son also has ezema. I tried Hyflux filter but didnt help. For sometime, I also bought bottles of mineral water for him instead of drinking boiled tap water, didnt help much.

Hi blessed dad
What u have said is exactly what my Chinese physician told me so I am taking some Chinese medicine that can strengthen the function of the kidney and liver. Could u explain how we can make our diet less acidic? What food and drinks should be avoid or cut down. I hv given up on the steroid creams after taking oral steroids for 3 times. Thank you.
