Dear All,

Could anyone share how to treat Presbyopia (老花眼) beside wearing those reading glasses (老花眼镜)? Heard can use laser for treatment? If you come across sources do share in here. At the age of 38+ had Presbyopia (老花眼)

I am bothered with this issue too. I use to wear glasses. Now I have to take them off when I read or type in front of the laptop. I checked with a doc in polyclinic and said this is normal with my age. During a medical check-up at a private practice, the doc advised getting another pair of reading glasses.
Is this normal?

I made progressive lens spec. Lately felt unable to read the options in the AXS machine clearly. Not sure which one has changed- myopia or presbyopia.

My other pair of progressive lens spec suits me better when doing near work, but gives some distortion when I wear it out at night.

It is normal for presbyopia to set in when one is in mid-late 30s. When presbyopia increases, sometimes the myopia decreases.

I don't bother with getting reading glasses. Find that too cumbersome (too many glasses lying around) and unnecessary cost spent in my case.

I have stopped wearing contact lenses (too lazy to put them on in the mornings) and I never went for LASIK.

My glasses prescription includes: progressive lenses (for my myopia & presbyopia), astig and transition lenses. I go to my regular optician once a yr to check my eyesight and if there's no significant changes to my degree, will continue to use my existing eyewear.

I make my glasses at Katong Shopping Centre (there's where I get my rum ball and desserts fix)

It's important that your optician ensures a good fit for progressive lenses. This is to avoid headaches and eye fatigue as u wd hv to adjust getting used to seeing near, mid-range and far distance. It takes me abt 2-3 hrs to get used to my new glasses whenever I change to a new pair.

Is it necessary to have prescription lens?

The only problem is this action reveal my age no matter how youthfully I dressed

I have perfect eyesight for reading far things & I do not require any glasses. Now wondering should go for laser treatment which can cure the Presbyopia?

If you use progressives, you won't need to remove your glasses to read small print, but it will cost more and may take some getting used to. I have myopia of 400+ and presbyopia of 200, and have been using progressive lenses for more than 5 yrs. I also have another pair of reading glasses for using the computer as looking through the lower portion of my progressives at the screen gives me a neckache! Since I work on my computer outside my home and have to keep changing glasses, it's troublesome and completely gives away my age too. And my presbyopia increases with age, so I also have to remove my glasses to read very small print now. I should probably get a new pair of progressives soon.
