Eye hurt by my child

Postby jkids » Sat Jun 07, 2014 9:09 pm

hi

need your advise...

few days back, my child snatched a book from me at close distance and the book hit right into my left eye. it was really painful. the pain went away the next day so I continue to use eyedrop everyday. but it seems that my left eye vision is not as sharp, i.e words seem more blur than before (I am slightly short-sighted before this incident).

anyone has encountered this and the vision returns to normal after a few days?

should I see a GP 1st or see a eye specialist straight away?

jkids, this hasn't happened to be before, but matters of the eye shouldn't be taken lightly. don't wait and see anymore. since it's the weekend, perhaps go see a GP first to get a first diagnosis and see what doc says.

hope it's nothing serious.

Are you using a normal eyedrop or a medicated eye drop (check expiry date)? If a normal eye drop, you should see a GP right away for a medicated eye drop. This cannot be purchased over the counter and you need to get it from a doctor, or with a prescription. This will be for any infection that may have occurred from the incident. It should improve quickly if that is all.

If it gets worse, please get a second opinion. An opthamologist will of course be more equipped for a thorough check. Different eye infections will have different presentation and some need specialised medication. If it is a basic bruising, it should get better with the usual medicated eyedrop from GP.

:xedfingers: I think it should get better soon with rest and the medicated eye drop.

(But if blurred vision continues or you see a floating object/ spots etc, go and check again. That require more specialized medications. Happened to two people I know due to infections.)

Hello jkidsm,
I don't think it happens because of your child... as you said you have low vision on left eye sight so let tell you everyone has this problem of any of it eye sight whether it is left or right...
