Cough in the evening

My child (10 yrs old) was down with sore throat which later developed into cough. After taking one round of antibiotic, the cough stopped completely. However after three days, the cough came back after dinner. Now he is on medication for phlegm, cough and anti inflammation. After being on these medication for three days already, his cough seems to be always triggered at around 8 plus pm. He does not cough as much in the morning or afternoon. Does anyone has similar experience with your kid?

Could it be some food that your child had eaten that trigger his cough?
Also, it might be the environmental temp is lower in the evening, thus resulted in frequent cough..jmho

It's probably due to cooler air in the evening causing the throat to constrict more. This always happens to us after a round of viral infection. Ask him to sip warm water and try not to cough too much. The more he coughs, the more inflamed the throat lining will be, and the more swelling and irritation he will experience.

Hi jixy mum and slmkhoo,

Thanks for your input.

The time when the cough started again we had this pear soup for dinner. So for subsequent days I was watching what he eats and make sure I avoid things that may trigger the cough. As for cold temperature, when he was in the air con clinic, he did not cough.

According to the doctor, it could also be because of the smoke in the air because of the 7th month burning of joss paper etc. or another viral attack again due to his low immunity.
