Hi Mums and Dads.

I currently just got pregnant about 6 weeks. Got one miscarriage, early miscarriage on December. Very worry now. Compared with my previous success birth, now this pregnancy is very taxing to me.

According to my family genes, when woman get pregnant, we will vomit from first trimester till last, and sometimes blood can be vomited out. I am lucky enough that my last success birth to my girl who is 6 yrs old now, I only vomit twice and had excellent appetite that I gain so much weight that Gynae sent me for Dietetian to control my diet. But now I am vomitting like nobody business since a week before I know that I am pregnant.

Now I am vomiting like nobody's business. I smell weird things, touch dirty things (even abit of dusts), see gross things I will sure vomit within seconds. I even vomit all the way when taking a shuttlebus home from Interchange about 20mins rides. I call up Gynae, he said there's no point to continue to eat anti-vomitting medicine since I won't stop vomitting... And I heard from a friend saying that the more you vomit the best the pregnancy is.

Sometimes I took very light meals but still vomit, I wish I can stopped eating so that I got nothing to vomit out. But my hubby encourage me to eat as much as I can, both bb and me need nutrition from food.

Anybody got good remedies or ideas to reduce my problems?

Luckily my girl is there to comfort me, beside clearing up the table after we eat, she also attends to my needs like fetching me water, tissues and so on, she also dash around getting me a stool to sit when i got no energy squatting in the toilet to vomit. She sayangs me and always talk to my tummy 'DiDi or MeiMei dun be naughty, be a good baby and stay healthy.'
At least with her support, makes my pregnancy seem more happier and feel fortunate to have a girl first.

I know lots of u been thru this stage before... Really appreciate all mums and dads who bring these little Angels to earth and make their best effort to bring them up.

What Can I Do To Relieve My Pregnancy Nausea?
Unfortunately, there is no one tried and true method that will relieve everyone's case of morning sickness. The only way to find what works for you is by trial and error. Below you will find ideas which you can try:

# Vitamin B6 - 50 mg. daily. Vitamin B6 has been shown to help with pregnancy induced nausea. There are also products available now which contain therapeutic doses of Vitamin B6. One is B-Natal TheraPops are cherry flavored lollipops which have been shown to reduce pregnancy morning sickness. Another Vitamin B-6 enriched product is called Morning Sickness Magic. Morning Sickness Magic is a herbal remedy containing Ginger, Vitamin B-6, Red Raspberry Leaf and Folic Acid.

# Ginger in capsules form 250 mg. three times daily can be beneficial. Ginger has long been associated with alleviating nausea. You can also get the benefit of using ginger by chewing on crystallized ginger or sucking on ginger hard candies.

# Avoid warm places as heat can increase the nausea feelings.

# Take naps during the day (but not right after eating). Tiredness plays a big part in morning sickness.

# Get enough sleep at night.

# Get out of bed slowly in the morning.

# Try eating plain crackers or dry cereal before you get out of bed in the morning.

# Open windows or turn on exhaust fans when cooking and after meals.

# Cooking in the microwave usually produces less odors.

# Silly as it sounds, carry a handkerchief with a few drops of a non nausea causing essential oil (lemon for example) in it and breath through it if you can't get away from the smell that is bothering you.

# Avoid greasy or spicy foods as they often cause nausea or heartburn.

# Eat what you want when you want it. Your cravings will not lead you the wrong way.

# Have frequent protein snacks. (Low fat meats and seafood, nuts, eggs and beans are high protein.)

# Eat smaller meals every two hours or so.

# Eating something salty before a meal can help you "make it through" a meal.

# Do not drink fluids with your meals.

# Non caffeinated teas like peppermint and ginger can help came nausea.

# Drink small amounts of fluids regularly though out the day to avoid dehydration.

# Do not skip meals if you can help it.

# Avoid spicy and fried food - both eating and smelling it can increase your nausea.

# Cold food may have less nausea inducing smells associated with them.
There's a lot more on the internet, but maybe you can start with this quick list above. There are some more details and writeup on the linked page.Take care!

Try to avoid places with strong smells like fruit store (jackfruit and durian are very pungent) and meat and seafood sections of supermarkets. When I was nauseous, avoiding these places helped a lot.

I hope you feel better soon.

Add OIL!!

Thanks alot, you should be a nice husband, your wife is so fortunate. My hubby asked me whether I regret now to have this baby and makes me suffer so much. I got so mad, and tell him not to talk to me. Hmm.. He is the one hoping me to get pregnant... :x

I went to see Gynae on Thursday, he tried to do a ultrasound but can't detect the heartbeat, intially he said that it's already six weeks after the scan he said 5 weeks... We can only see the waterbag and abit tiny dot about 3mm small. In the end I have to go back next Friday to do a ultrasound again... I am very worried and when I see the Gynae expression as he can't find the heartbeat, I can tell he was worried too. Except for my hubby he is still blur...

My vomitting is getting worse, Before food vomit, after food also vomit, drink water also vomit... Touch a bit of dirt also vomit, smell of food, raw meat/fish, smell of disgusting body odor also vomit. Feel so bad when people know that I vomit because they smell. My gastric and tummy hurts...

I used to go out everyday at least once, now I just hope I don't need to eat, and walk... Everything makes me vomit....

I will try out your reccomendations... Thanks alot... So nice of you... :D

Halow Kelamel,

Tried to tell your wife to take frequent small light diet for the time being, if she dun vomit like I do, she is luckier. Sometimes a small apple or a Bun... can consider as a meal... Maybe 3-4 hrly feeding like a bb.
I gets very hungry after 11pm recently but I know i can only take light diet, so I ask my hubby to heat up soup for me... Try to rest early, if too bloated, sleep abit upright maybe a pillow behind the back. No food and not to much water 1-2hrs before sleep. Dun take too acidic, spicy or strong flavour food. Go to the website Shashimi intro to me.

Now I am suffering from insomnia, I sleep ard 3-5am, and wake up around 8-9am.. Very tired in the days... I think my bb will have dark rings when born...

Really need lots of hubby's TCL... and understandings... and hubby must be smart enough not to piss us off at this critical time... Our physical and emotional changes makes us very tiring already... We may be hungry at this moment, vomit the next moment. May be laughing for little things but crying for even smaller things... (Frankly speaking sometimes we cant control yelling at hubby and forget why the next moment... )

Congrats to you! We should be parents at the same week or so... May we have a happy and healthy pregnancy...

kelamel, when I was expecting, I had lots of gas and bloatedness too. What jenniferjoey said is correct, take small meals and eat frequently. I also asked my gynae back then if it was safe to take antacids for the gas, and he said yes. I was already taking antacids before I was pregnant for excessive gas and gastric so I just continued. Some antacids may taste yucky, which may cause nausea, so I only took Mylanta since it has a minty flavour. (I don't know if Mylanta is still available in Singapore cos I tried looking for it recently but no luck.)

Kelamel,

Jenniferjoey's concern is whether the pregnancy sac is growing or not as its supposed to be 6 weeks old but the scan by the gynae shows that the age is only 5 weeks.

Jenniferjoey,

Did you gynae recommend any hormone pills?

strong morning sickness is a good sign that the sac is developing. Don't worry.........just pray.

Thanks to all of you and your encouragements, I am currently 9th week and 5 days pregnant...

I am still going thru the stage on serious 'morning' sickness, Gynae said I am quite dehydrated, and whenever I am really not well, I can just get hospitalised and rehydrate myself... I try all the methods that Sashimi has introduced to me. Some worked some don't, but there are bad and lucky days for me, so far only a few lucky days that I tried to prevent myself from vomitting by eating little, and light diet. But some days every methods don't worked and I ended up toss and turn in bed, eat, vomit whole day... My face still pale esp after vomit several times, and I get cold sweat, giddiness, fainting spell... quite scary... My mum and mother-in-law make some tonics for me, maybe that's why I still can here chatting...

Well I hope my nightmares can be over in a few weeks time and let me enjoy this pregnancy...
