Cervical Spondylosis

Postby heyhoe » Tue Feb 10, 2015 8:40 am

Hi,

My dh was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis at the polyclinic.

The dr told him besides medicine (to relief pain) and physiotheraphy, there is nothing much that can be done, unless he wants to go for surgery. However, this may not be the best option as it could be paralysed.

It seems that he'll have to suffer for the rest of his life and it could get worsen. :gloomy: I would appreciate if anyone can advise me what other options are available? Will acupuncture helps? If so, any recommendations?

So sorry to hear of that. Perhaps he can try to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor, with regards to alternative options and surgery?

my hubs also diagnosed with this few years back. a "by-product" of parachute jumping during army days.
TTSH pressurised him to go for surgery. Pls don't opt for surgery. too risky. We seek 2nd opinion fr former head of neuro. he advised no surgery. Physio and a change of lifestyle.
Take vit b1, b6, b12. (Neurogen-E Tablet available from pharmacy). Hubs can't run anymore but does brisk walking. The last time he went to doc, the doc was surprised his condition has improved much.

Dear All,

Thanks for your well wishes.

Zee, thanks for sharing as well. I've no idea what cause it but it could be due to his hobby - carry weights and his long working hours. Would you mind to share the contact of the neurologist. You can PM me if you feel more comfortable.

I'm at a loss on what to do next.

hv pm you.

the wts could be a cause if not done with right posture.

don't worry too much. adjustment of lifestyle. it was hard for my hubs as he was very fit and active and suddenly he was told he cannot run anymore or it will worsen his condition. took a while to accept his condition and move on.

Dear All,

Just want to share that my dh condition has improved. Thank you for sharing ideas on how to help him pull this thru. He feels much better after going thru intensive acupuncture and chinese medicine for 2 months.

Although not completely recover, he seems to be able to cope better. He has also stopped going to gym but try to keep fit by jogging and swimming.

My heartfelt thanks to all of you.
