Ingrown toenail

I suspect ds has an ingrown toenail but other than redness, mild swelling and his complaints of tenderness, I can't see any other signs. Other than a podiatrist, where can I take him for a quick check?

(But if you know a good podiatrist, please do recommend as well!)

Thanks!

I can have this issue if I forget to trim it.
Can you trim it yourself or already grown deep in?

I can't see the end of the nail as the side is puffy and tender  and I can't get a good look cos he will flinch in pain.

try not to DIY if you think it's a real ingrown nail problem, as cutting it deeper may worsen the situation.

My mom visits this podiatrist at Tanglin centre:

The Podiatry Centre
#02-05 Tanglin Place (Next To Tudor Court), 19 Tanglin Road, Singapore 247909
p: 63380757 f: 68380753

Alternatively, your usual family doctor should be able to help with it if it's not too bad.

We visit a podiatrist clinic at Serene Centre when elder boy had a wart on his sole.

Starlight,
Ya, if it is my toe I will definitely try that too. But not my toe and I don't want to be kicked in the face! And if I make it worse, he will likely remember it for the rest of his life.

Lexis, Jennifer,

Thanks for the recommendations! Writing them down right away!

:thankyou:

DS went to GP and was given some cream. He was screaming (a bit drama king) if we touched the particular toe...

yes, mine was on the verge of screaming too. The GP only gave cream, no need to cut nail? So it may just be an infection?

To prevent ingrown toenail, try to cut the nail across in a straight line instead of curved to the sides. Eventually the nail will no longer dig into the skin.
