Hi little patrick,

If there is a white spot on the finger nail, it means zinc deficiency. Just take multi-vitamins (that incl zinc) and it shd solve the problem. I used to have that as a student, and then was told that it means I lack sufficient zinc in the body. When I took multi-vits, the white spot went away.

Hope that helps :celebrate:

Hi Little Patrick
Just wondering, is that the same ("old"?) white spot on the fingernail? It will not disappear just like that or fade away even with the zinc intake. We can only get rid of the white spot when the nail grows and you eventally cut that part of the nail off. This can take some time as our nails grow very s-l-o-w-l-y.

However, taking zinc will minimise future white spots. But I have also realised that if my immunity is low and I fall sick, I noticed that a white spot will grow shortly after, even though I am taking multi-vits which include zinc.

So, what this tells me is that when the white spot appears, it shows my body's low immunity level. So I try to take better care of myself. I would not worry too much as long as your son is healthy and doing ok. Just get him to eat healthily and continue with his vitamins.

But if you are still feeling worried, then can check with the GP.

Really? I've always thought it was zinc. I remembered reading about it and my GP telling me that years ago.

Not so sure about calcium, but we still need calcium as it gives us strong bones and teeth and nails too. Also, zinc, calcium, magnesium are good minerals that complement each other and which our bodies need.

So eat healthily...
