SGH Shuttle Bus

Postby slmkhoo » Mon Mar 14, 2016 2:59 pm

Not exactly a "Health" question, but I thought this might be the best place to ask. Anyone know the freqeuncy of the SGH shuttle bus from Outram MRT station? Is is usually very busy on weekday mornings around 10am? I'm wondering how much time I need to budget.

If I decide to walk, is the walk from Outram MRT to Blk3 (Specialist Outpatient Clinics) very long? It looks long on the map!

Thanks!

Walking to SOC may take abt 10-15min or so but under hot weather
The buses are quite frequent but if u r worry, maybe cater 15min or even 20min bec the bus goes to various centers before arriving at the main block where SOC is (?)

Slmkhoo, the frequency is about 15-20min but the queue is long. Sometimes 3 buses have gone passed and you are still in the q.. At 10am, assuming u board at outram park (east west line) mrt, u need about 45min to reach blk 3. To shorten the wait, board at outram park (north east line) mrt.

Blk 3 is not too far. From outram mrt, it is about 12min up the slope to blk 5/6. Cut thru the buildings (ask the angels around for direction) and you would be at blk 3 pretty soon. If you or your companions are abled bodies (not old folks with weak legs), the walk is ok. My parents are well into their 70s, I rather drive them there and drop them at the blk's door step while I sweat my way back from some far flung carpark.

Interestingly, the shutter bus ride out from the hospital is super pleasant. U way in the shelter, half the time air conditioned, and the ushers will call you and your company when your turn is up.

If u can, cab in and shutter bus out.

If you do not mind walking within the buildings and sheltered areas, then you can walk from Outram green line to the purple line within the air con mrt station, and then exit from the purple line. This links to one of the buildings and then just walk from one building to the next, within the hospital and you will reach the SOC.

Thanks! Maybe I'll try a combination of suggestions - walk in from the NE Line side, and shuttle bus out if the queue isn't too long. I'm bringing my teenage daughter for a checkup - neither of us is old or infirm, but I don't like long hot walks! And I have to get to work after, so don't want to waste time.

What about taking a bus to the Jln Bukit Merah side - is the walk to Blk3 covered?

Then walk may be better unless it is heavy rain.

Try this route to take the shuttle service at Outram MRT (NE line). It's a comfortable ride. Don't recall waiting too long for the shuttle service. The buses are fairly frequent. The waiting time might be longer during lunch and dinner time (hosp visiting hours)

(I'm too lazy to walk in this hot and humid weather!! )

Just another thank you to all you helpful people! I took the shuttle bus from the NE line exit and there was no queue. When it got to the EW line side, the queue was very long and I reckon the people at the end would have to wait for 3-4 buses! I walked back to the MRT station (NE line exit) through the buildings as well and it was a fairly pleasant walk.
