I'm looking for a recommendation for a dentist in JB to do a root canal and crown. Preferably one near the Causeway for easy access by bus. Has anyone tried and have one to recommend? Thanks!

Err... Apart from cost, any particular reason why a Dentist in JB?

One often recommended dentist is Dr Roland Lim in Holiday Plaza. Just Google Dr Roland Lim to get all the reviews. Holiday Plaza is easy to get to by bus or taxi.

Cost, mainly. But also considering places in Singapore if not too expensive. Any recommendations?

I've been recommended Dr Lim as well, but I would prefer nearer the causeway if possible (don't want to take a taxi).

In Singapore, prices are fairly standard, i.e. expensive.

The cheapest option would be a referral from a SingHealth dental clinic to National Dental Centre (because RCT and crowning are done by the specialist). It is the cheapest option performed by very experienced specialist, but the trade off is a long waiting period for the first appointment (subsequent appointments follow a schedule so it's not so bad).

I think the nearest to the causeway is Amim Dental at Plaza Seni (the older shopping centre opposite City Square Mall).

If the dentist know that you are a Singaporean coming across to JB all the way for dental service, do they charge very expensive in ringgit ?

I've been told (but notverified) that the waiting list for Singhealth dental is 1.5yrs for root canal! Would the waiting times at hospitals be as long?

Do you know anything about the Amim dentist? My brother-in-law went there, but I can't seem to find much info and he wasn't the kind to ask much. I have been told there are local dentists who charge around $1.6K and I'm inclined to do that simply because it's more convenient. Still checking round for the various options.

My bil was charged the local ringgit rate and did his whole root canal+crown for something like S$700? But he drives and has a flexible schedule, while I would have to go by bus and on my off days, so if I can find something in Singapore that isn't too expensive, I might stay in Singapore for the convenience.

9 months to a year wait is common for the first appointment. Sometimes, you get lucky when people cancel their appointments. Call back to check often. Once you secure the first appointment, subsequent appointments are around 6 to 9 months, depending on the follow up services required.

I think Amim is alright because the clinic looks fairly modern and well maintained. Apparently attracts a decent number of Singaporeans also.

I went to a dentist in Sg in the end. In the end, it turned out that the tooth couldn't be saved and I had it extracted.

Now I will need to get an implant when things heal up! Any advice or suggestions? Would NDC be cheaper than going private? I don't mind waiting now as it's not urgent.
