Please advise - Child - feeling tired, no other symptoms

DS has been feeling lethargic and tired since yesterday morning. No cold symptoms , no fever, no stomach pain . He does feel some stomach unease after eating, relatively light food. He still has appetite, though much lesser than usual. He has had home food mostly since Saturday. No constipation.

He seemed better morning this morning, and after breakfast. I avoided milk. At 11 am,after i left for work, he seemed fine and felt a little hungry , he drank milo( with fresh milk) and a jam sandwich then he felt sleepy and slept. He woke up around 2 , had a light lunch. He says he just feels very tired.

Anyone with such an experience , any suggestions?

Should i rush home and take him to a doc? Wait and see one more day?

PS - DS is 12, pretty relaxed since PSLe is just over.

He was pretty much normal - went out in the evening to run and play with his friends , and cycling of Fri/Sat. Sunday he was like moping around reading, playing a lot on ipad/comp. So i was not worried when he wanted to lie down and rest and do nothing - not even read. I thought he was just too bored.
Evening we had planned to make cupcakes, he did helped but kept wanting to sit and not interested as he normal is. Then he just wanted to go and play. He came ack after an hour, saying he didnt feel like running around too much . He helped with the cup cake deco. After dinner, he wanted to lie down, Gave him some ginger powder with honey. He asked me to be with him. We saw some youtube for 10 mins, then he wasnt interested and soon slept. His only complaint is feeling tired.

I guess just observe him for a day or so and see if he bounces back. Could be the start of some bug?

Not sure about your DS but whenever DS behaves like that, I know that something is bothering him and I will need to dig it out of him or leave him be to sort his thoughts out.

I think the doctor will tell you to observe if there are no obvious signs of pain, fever or rashes. Any headaches?

My ds will always be as you described whenever he is on the verge of falling sick and in fact he was exactly like that last week, and developed a fever. When he is such (tired but no fever ), I will always keep him indoors and enforce rest. He will usually still get a fever subsequently for 1-2 days and recover after a few days of rest. If you are worried, can consider rooming in with your child for a while to observe at night.
If you do not think it is an early sign of illness, ask if he had injured himself in the head recently. If he did, it may be good to see a doctor just in case.
Take note of the date he first complained of fatigue, and if it persists, definitely see a doctor and inform the doctor of the duration.

I wouldn't have thought of that! For mine, it will be insomnia.

Thanks a bunch Funz, that is my gut feel too but I did ignore that. I asked him last night, he said nothing and i left it. He fell sick right before PSLE, so maybe he is tense about that these days are the PSLE marking days. Or they had school games on Fri , maybe something is bothering him about that day. Perhaps he is tense without even realising it.

Yes I slept beside him last night, he was rolling a bit more than usual otherwise everything was normal and woke up by himself this morning around 7.

He is very prone to cold, and usually falls sick with a funny noe/sore throat.
I will check about any falls especially as he went cycling and also had school games on Fri.
Thanks Ammonite

Thanks for asking, Jen.

Looks like start of some bug. He vomited a couple of times last night, then slept. Woke up hungry this morning, he had some rice porridge , now sleeping. Have an appointment to see doc later today.
