For white rice, let it cool down first. You can leave it in the fridge and reheat the next day. Less 'potent'.

Another factor prob is genes dependent . check the seniors in family health issues
my maternal n paternal all no diabetics n never take brown rice. High blood pressure n cholesterol coz some oldies like to eat fatty meats since young. If there is family history , good to manage the
rice, drinks, salt diet . Go out and exercise more. Eat greens n proteins more , carbo minimal.
Yes. Gotta check your spouse's side as well, as it may affect your children.

Genes aside, it's still good to avoid as diabetes leads to heart diseases, stroke, loss of eyesight or limbs.

No he was talking abt diabetes, regardless of weight. Normal weight people can also get diabetes. Obesity was just a sidetrack when he flashed the 1 in 5 children infographic or something?

Our family has been consuming red rice and low GI white rice for a few years. I cook red rice and low GI white rice together and it turns out ok. No need to cook them separately. And my rice cooker doesn't have brown rice function.

Low GI white rice tastes awful so it is better to put pandan in it if you want to cook it alone.

I am looking for organic black rice because I read that it is even better than red rice. Anybody knows where I can buy it? TIA

(Nice?? I saw the long queue but could not bring myself to try the samples. My kids as well went eeew. I guess we are just not into novelty food. )
It's because of our sedentary lifestyle. Plus, airconed underground linkways, better public transport connections, lift landings at every floor for HDB. Luckily I also go cycling and briskwalking at night.

You gotta try Irvins chips once in your life time. It's dangerously addictive! Bought 2 cartons for my HK friends to bring back. They are crazy about this local snack. My Indonesian friend also asking me to buy as it's also very popular in Jakarta, but I'm not free to queue, as the Jun hols are over!

Ah yo! scary right!
The K and Jap had white rice fr breakfast to dinner lei ! wonder what is their data ?
They don't drink tea black with sugar, they drink unsweetened tea

Plus K & Jap don't have so much meat in their diet which means lower cholesterol.

The interplay between sugar and cholesterol not really fully understood yet

There are apps to download to track your daily calorie intake too. After a few months, I gave up! Who can resist that pack of Irvins salted egg yolk chips?
Can be done if one has the heart. ;)

sidetrack. if you think Irvin's is good, can try Frenzied frenz (some others not that nice). My colleagues and I used to go crazy over these but after they keep hiking the price, I decided they can keep the calories.
