Hi, my DD of 8 year old recently has this sleeping problem. She has being having cough on Apr till May & recover on Jun. Along these few months, she went for swimming class & after the class, she tend to have cough non stop.

On Jun, since we came back from holiday, she has this sleeping problem. During daytime, no coughing at all.
At night when she deep asleep, she will suddenly cough 1 or 2 times, sit up straight away & seems like catching breath. She was like trying to vomit but unable to. After a min, she went back to sleep. This has being happening for every night for a weeks plus now.

In fact during holiday, I gave her some raw manuka honey (5+ UMF) to drink to reduce some hot weather. Not sure if this drink causes her to have the issue.

She has went to see ENT specialist a week ago & was given nasonex spray & telfast. She has her tonsils & adenoid remove 3 - 4 years ago as it causes her to have fever & flu every month. Was told by specialist that she was allergy to soft toy & etc.

I tried elevate her pillow but still happening. Does anyone's DS or DD has this problem?

Thanks all reply in advance.

Sounds like your daughter has narrow airways which makes it harder to breathe when she lies down. The recent cough probably has inflamed the airways more. Hopefully, the medications she is taking will resolve the problem eventually. You can try getting her to sleep on her side - it can help. I used to be asthmatic as a child, and also seem to have narrow airways. I can't sleep on my back as I will start coughing, so I always sleep on my side.

Yoga helps - Breathing techniques

Trained Yoga instructor (Traditional Hatha Yoga) this is not my mainstream profession rather passion and particularity interested in teaching children as I do recognize the need to prepare our young ones to cope with the unavoidable challenges of the modern day living and Yoga helps tremendously, earlier the start better it is.

I do not have a studio or website and I prefer to keep it simple and humble. I am not looking to place any price to it and I will gratefully and gracefully accept whatever the parents may deem appropriate.

I go to sleep at 9:00 P.M. and then suddenly woke up around 2:00 A.M. and I can no longer sleep. I am not really stressed or thinking of something. What do I need to do to avoid this?

The type of mattress she uses also makes a difference. My friend had a lot of sleep issues due to her back pain and so she researched a lot (https://bestkitchenbuy.com/coir-mattres ... back-pain/) and found the right mattress that she felt most comfortable in.
