Taking leave to look after child on hospital leave

Hi

I am feeling stress about child's upcoming surgery and about applying for leave since i am still under probation. I m the only possible caretaker for my child whose going for surgery.

My work is so intensive that if my colleague is to cover for me, she will be overloaded. But I do not think I am unable to work fr home, coz i will be staying in hospital for at least a week, and aftermath of looking after my child need to be taken into consideration.

For parents who take leave to look after your child , may I know how many days do you take?
And do you have to work from home? Or your colleague could cover for u?
