Kids' Monday Morning Blues or School Days' Blues

When my DS woke up this morning, the very first thing that he asked me was "Is today Monday?".

On hearing the answer, his face immediately changed. This is not the first time he has Monday Morning Blues.

Luckily for my DW and me, DS has been able to overcome the blues rather fast, and is his usual cheerful self by about breakfast time.

Back of my mind, I have been wondering what should I do if he did not recover by the time we are supposed to leave the house? How can I help him to overcome his Monday Morning Blues?

Any tips from experienced Mummies & Daddies here?

Maybe you can look at his time table and see if you can highlight something he can look forward to in his curriculum regularly?

If not make a date with him on Monday like a daddy n boy date? Go library every Monday or jogging every Monday after school etc... Then he will love Monday..

My DS will just pop up without any morning blues... I don't know how he does it.

My DD, on the other hand, is a monster to wake. But she will be her bright and sunny self within 10mins after her shower.

or maybe you can start to alert him on sunday and tomorrow will be monday so that he will not be surprise that monday really comes. And prepare some program he likes to do on monday so that he will be look forward to it rather than to overcomes his monday blues.

do you have a home 'homework' timetable for the kid? i usually give ds1 Monday offs from my doses of homework or give him light tasks so that Tuesday seems more dreadful than Monday. the more heavy tasks (eg math) will be on Saturday where the dad is around to boost his concentration level. :politebleah:
recently, i started writing small notes or some self-drawn smiley pic and slot it into his reading book. it makes him feel better too if we spend time talking the night before and i sit with him over breakfast on Monday morning.
for Nursery ds2, a BenTen cartoon or a jellybean will usually snap him out of his moody mood.
MHO.

so far, it does not affect much on DS1. DS2 not worrying about Monday, he would wake up asking "today's saturday?" despite of which day. If my answer no, he will frown and "huh....."If my answer is yes, he would :rahrah: , reason is dun have to go school and have free & easy rest & relax weekend!
