I've known mine since we were teenagers. My best friend is travelling these couple of weeks. Dh rejoyced and said he could enjoy some silence. True enough, these few days I began to notice the near to complete silence of my sms ringing tone.

While waiting to fetch my kids 2 days ago, I scanned through the entire list of friends stored in my hp & yet I didn't know who to sms to, to chit chat while waiting, so bored when she's not in town. Although I do keep in touch with other girlfriends but usually couldn't keep the conversation going and would stop after 1 or 2 sms. I probably send dh around 10 sms each month while with my best friend, we can easily hit 200 & more each month.

My dd showed me her essay today. She wrote about how she would spend an entire day with her best friend. I found her 'itinerary ' strangely familiar. She laughed and replied that's because she modelled those activies after what my friend & I usually did on our day out.

We got to know each other during our poly days. We do not SMS nor chit chat everyday, just as and when we like. It may be once every 2 to 3 weeks and when we started chatting,it can be as long as 3 hours everytime.

To me, best friend is a gift and to me, she is a gem. We ever quarrelled once due to a misunderstanding and it was bad but we manage to reconcile unknowingly. This is what I call strong friendship and we really treasure each other after that.

We can talk about anything and everything under the sun and this friendship is a very comfortable one. There is no mask, no hypocrisy and We can just be ourselves.

I can still remember many years ago when we were busy with our own lives and I can't meet her for my birthday and she purposely came to my place all the way from the other end of the island, just to pass the gift to me thru my dad( I am not at home at that time)! I was very touched and so was my dad then.

It's a blessing to have her as my best friend!

I have 3 to be exact. Childhood friends since we were 8. Primary 2-5 classmates. We have a clique including the old boys but we 4 are the closest. Can talk about anything and everything under the skies with no judgement.

I have many friends but my best is only one . We met in school time . He was so intelligent .

Best friend is not only sharing the Happy Good moment with you , but also with you when you are down.
Best friend is someone who really Scolded you when you are wrong , yet we are still very close.
Although we are busy with our own family now . I am bless that I have a Real True friend. ONE IS ENOUGH !

Interesting, I was just thinking about this a few days ago. I was thinking about my group of good friends and how we had stopped meeting up after everyone had their kids. We would only meet up once a year now. I guess after a while we have less capacity for so many friends.

But I am ok about not having a best friend because my dh is my best friend, we will talk deep and share and laugh and honestly compared to the best friends I had in secondary school, JC and so on, he was the one that I really can talk to and we have the same wavelength and understanding that I have not shared with anyone so while I realize I do not have any best friends outside of dh, I am very happy that he and I can be best friends. I think if we were not married (no chemistry), we would probably be best friends.

Same here, dh is my best friend too. We used to be classmates. Don't know good or bad, sometimes I feel that our track of thoughts are too alike, like a herd. Alternative views are good in certain situations. I usually turn to my brother for fresh perspective because he definitely belongs to another herd

But girlfriend is still the sweetest. We recommend each other drama to watch, talk about our favourite 'lovey dovey prince charming sweep you off your feet' scenes, drool after good looking actors, you know that sort of air head stuff. And somehow 90% of her wardrobe comprised clothes she bought when she shopped with me. I'm her designated image consultant

Same here, my best friend is my DH beside God. My eldest DS is also one of my friend as I also share my thoughts and views of things with him.

Girlfriends still keep in touch through letters and sms. Busy, hard to attend gatherings though they had organized some.

But its nice that there are still primary and secondary school friends who still keep in touch with me. They warmed my heart when I rec'd their letters, sms and calls too.

One more here, DH also my best friend.
We started as classmates & we have been known each other for 25 years.......


Looking back, I realised all through my years, tho I do have some good friends, I dun have best friend (not until DH came along).....
DD's friend celebrated her 11th birthday on Sat who invited 3 best friends. So I asked my P5 DD about hers.....apparently, she seems to be rather similar to me....good friends yes a few, but would not classify any as BEST friend. Was told by one of her classmate's mom, she seems to mix better with the boys.

It's nice to have a female best friend though. To gossip (its bad I know but it deliciously feeds some part of our female psyche), to shop, to do girly things. But between having a best friend in a girl and in dh, I rather it be dh. I am thankful I could find a soulmate, I remember thinking in my early twenties if I cannot find a guy who is soulmate material, I rather not get married. But then I also worried about being single all my life..so thank God, DH appeared before it was too late.
