Have you let yourself go?

Have you let yourself slack and become lazy in keeping your appearance together after marriage/ childcare?

Has this affect your relationship?

Do you bother to exercise now?

Hi Gabby,

Once have kids for the first few years, I really slack and become lazy in keeping my appearance. But so far okay with relationship.

After married, lazy to do exercise too.

Few months back start to take care of my skin liao. But now stress with other things.

I think the body shape will inadvertently change after childbirth, but we must still consciously try to buy clothes that are best suitable.

I have this fear that my sec school friends see me on the road and say something like,"you look so different."

But I do it mainly for myself, not my hubby. If I asked him, he will shrug his shoulders and say same lor.

I definitely slacked, but still have a minimum standard. Where that minimum standard is will vary from couple to couple. My husband actually prefers me to slack as he gets impatient with long hair and makeup routines, so he's actually happier that I've lowered my standards! And when my kids were younger, I used to joke that as long as I had time to dress and shower every day, I was happy! Exercise has never featured much in my life even before kids, and it is now mainly doing the shopping and housework. I don't have a car so I have to walk a fair bit.

Let myself go? I was never quite put together to start with so nothing much to let go.

The first few years after the birth of my kiddos, exercise took a back seat. Now that they are older, I have more 'me' time so exercise is back in my routine.

Aside from that, I think I am putting in more effort to care for my skin.

Think it's time to spend a bit more time for ourselves. Especially when age is catching up. Haiz..

Same here, I tried to stay slim & fashionable for my self esteem rather than for hubby's benefit. Go gym at least thrice a week, do zumba fitness, kickboxing and body sculpting floor exercises. Signing up for more dancing classes too, a super ON auntie

Hubby is froze in time, continuing thinking I'm still in my 20s :slapshead: No no no, obviously I'm not looking that young but he doesn't see any difference in me whether I'm chubby or slim. I'm the only one whining about my weight gain & sagging eye lids

Met a classmate whom I didn't see the last 20 years, 'shocking' is the only word to describe. I wonder what she thinks of me :nailbite:

I WISHED I will put on weight!!! I NEVER ever put on weight even after child birth. I hate it so much. I really envy people who are fleshy. They look so good.

Wow you are on a good exercise routine. I know what you Mean by "shocking" when you bumped into someone in the past. I saw a gal friend back from school days, and she has really grown.
