It may be difficult for us because both me and DH are not highly educated and we even don't have a diploma (Not like you and your DH could study uni in overseas). We don't earn much as you and your DH. DS is having a high pay job now but he has to support his biological mother. Where got money to spend if we don't work full time?

A few days ago, I have a conversation with my boss and the boss was complaining some frustration on upper management...,etc and I also explained how much frustration and no hope in my job. However, finally I told him, if he kept on thinking others were bullying on us, then we won't be able to work happily. I prefer just closed my eye on this grievance. I said we just came to office to get our pay...that was all. We cannot changed the office politics but we can control our mind.

Many years ago a friend told me...we only sell our time to the company, not our lives.
So don't invest too much emotions into our work...our anger and frustration at work often manifest at home too...not healthy family life.

Would u believe it, my DS class’ parent Whatsapp group is chillingly silent on the topic of exams (except for what time report/dismiss). Ditto on DSA. What that implies, I dunno. Thankfully I have some good fellow mum friends who help to share our stress and worry burden & we can talk openly F2F.

I think it's because almost all the boys would have a full suite of tuition and enrichment. gancheong also no use.

We are having some rat issues in the garden of one of my centres. Stupid critters are digging up everything we planted. Didn't know that rats eat ginger as well. Groundnut plants all uprooted and all the nuts gone, aloes uprooted, Bayam gone, sweet potatoes gone and we cannot find the culprit/s in the day, only see the carnage.

Make sure the rats don't go inside your house.

DS registered earlier in the month. His medical is on 22nd Oct.

Marking days today and tomorrow. He is still going back to school this week for Labs. He said many of his friends chose not to go back or make use of the Lab sessions this week as there will be more in Nov and next year as well.

I just cut some sweet basil last night for a Tuscan salmon dish. Cut some thai basil last week for 3 cup chicken. So happy that I have my herbs again. Pandan is thriving so I need to repot them soon. Forgot to get curry leaves when I bought my herbs the last time. Think we shall go grab more this weekend. Thinking of Dill but I don't use it that often.

Ok we shall not get ahead of ourselves. Still do not have that much time to tend to the plants at home.

Yes, same for DS having lab & Extended Essays to write. Sch holidays still hv to work on till next year & Nov his language exams. Then his NS medical. So our boys are of same age.

My 2 Pandan plant growing beyond my neck level alr. Hv to chop. Lots of babies tho.

I didn’t realize rats can ravage yr garden. So heartpain all the hardwork u’ve put in. Possible to put a wire mesh trap box? If rats not controlled, think they infest yr area. Maybe put in a string of bells to deter? But I always believe such deterrence is temporal. At our previous condo, rats cld jump as high as the ceiling. Need drastic measures & very vigilance actions by everybody. The cleaners ensure after every function, nothing is left behind in any open or closed function rooms. Once I found a bag of bread left over by a Caucasian family & they had an earful fr me.

That's true - personal well-being should come first so you can better support others. Similar to the instruction on planes to put on your own O2 mask before helping your kids. On the other hand, if we can find meaning and purpose in the work itself (not just in the paycheck), then it may reduce the frustration, or at least make it more bearable? And for younger people who are less entrenched in their jobs, looking for meaning in work is something to think about.

Yes, you are correct, my problem is too many friends (酒肉朋友), just like this evening, a friend invited me for dinner, then I have to give "face" and attend. People like to play boardgames with me and if I don't go, others also not come and therefore I have to go. These types of gathering costs money....but if I don’t entertain, then I will have no friends

Maybe can try pool them together then no need go out eat so many times?

Btw, I find online friends also good. No need go out very convenient, can talk anytime.
