Help: Married for 4 years and dating ideas are running dry!

Postby mondster » Sun Jul 14, 2013 5:44 pm

Hi friends,

I've been with my ex-girlfriend(currently my wife) for 7 years and we've been married for 4 years. Over the years, we've been to many places but we have been returning to the same places again and again. Our anniversary is coming soon and I want to bring her out to somewhere special, preferably with a romantic ambience.

Any suggestions is deeply appreciated and I thank you in advance for that.

P.S. Singapore is so boring...

The Capella at Sentosa?

They have a lovely small library equipped with all board games besides a small collections of books, magazines and major international news papers, and wide selection of fruits.

Also, I highly recommend their spa, features some good and relaxing wellness treatments.

Follow with a romantic fine dinning at Cassia :please:

PS. Book the Villa, the best one can get in SG.

Happy anniversary :celebrate:

Hi mondster,

There is a pretty new website called I-Dears. Some places are reviewed, while some are new and have yet to be reviewed. But what they have is the randomiser that you can use to help you choose a place. You just have to select the filter "Romantic Dining" when using the randomiser, and you will be randomly given a place to go to for a romantic dinner with your wife.

Hope this website can help you plan for your anniversary, and all others who are looking for places to go to for dates

Cheers,

Hi guys,

Thank you for your suggestions.

Dinner in the cable car sounds pretty good. I might consider The Capella for a night's worth of relaxation with my wife, away from the kids.

I've taken a look at I-Dears and that was one great suggestion! I'll probably use the randomiser for future dates with my wife, save me the hassle(and headache!) of planning each outing without the kids. This time, it generated Les Amis for me and I guess I'll make a reservation there.

Perfect cheat code.

Thanks! It's like striking gold with so many great people around.

If you are into wines, something you can try is to sign up for newsletters from some of the wine retailers like The Straits Wine Company or Crystal Wines. They regularly organize wine events at all sorts of dinner venues and its a good way to try out different ideas on dining.

Anyway, do like and share I-Dears' Facebook page now for a chance to win Cathay movie passes. Another great way to escape the kids for an evening

Hi Mondster,

You can do the following to come up with some creative ideas:

i. Purchase "Time Out" magazine and see what are the happenings in Singapore (http://www.timeoutsingapore.com/)

ii. Check out hungrygowhere.com (http://www.hungrygowhere.com/) for good dining venues.

iii. If you and your wife are artistically-inclined, you can check out the receptionist counters at major shopping centres such as Marine Parade Shopping Centers or VivoCity for catalogues of upcoming or recent performances at the Esplanade or Marina Bay Sands.

iv. Most people travel abroad. You can do that, or you can do a "staycation".

v. If you and your wife are the sporty type, go to East Coast for a jog or just rent a bike or rollerblade. If both of you are swimmers, go do some sea sports.

vi. If you and your wife are avid photographers and/or designers like myself, go shoot some pictures. Landscape , street photography, portraits , macro photography are all possible with the right lens. If you run out of places, check for events, such as the bi-annual Singapore Garden Festival, coming again in 2014 (https://www.singaporegardenfestival.com/)

Move around, be creative.

Have fun, and merry Christmas ! :)

Warmest Regards,
Patrick

My husband and I have termed our dates as 'kopi dates' because we enjoy talking over teh ping or kopi and it has been stuck with us through all these years. Sometimes we buy our kopi and would walk to a park nearby at night, after our kids are in bed, to just enjoy the quietness.

Once a year, we actually go back to the spot where we first met and have a meal there to reminisce how we got to know each other and fell in love after. It does help to keep the spark alive and remind ourselves how we built this relationship, which makes us appreciate each other more.

I don't think we have the most creative ideas but what keeps our dates going is really memories, and bringing them up once in a while to simply walk through memory lane of how it all began and grew, I think everyone's love story is always worth bringing up time and time again :)

Hope it helps if it did..

I connected with this post. I fully agree with the part about memories. Our memories are very short. It is useful to revisit them.

To this end, I take many photos and videos when we go on holidays. Then, I would organize them and put them up on a private blog for easy viewing. Looking back at those memories - amazing!
