Senior citizens' activites?

Anyone knows of any activity centres/clubs around Toa Payoh area (or easily accessible by mrt) that holds activities or conduct programs for seniors for at least half a day? The only thing is that she cannot go under the sun long due to her skin condition. Hence, gardening or walking or any outdoor activities may be out.

I want to suggest something for my mom to do daily as I think she's bored. Volunteering work is best. Tks!

What about volunteering at toa payoh poly clinic? There are some old folks volunteering there already. I think they do simple tasks like giving directions to patients who are unsure of where to go to see dr (level, rooms), blood tests etc.

There is also a tcm (中华医院 I think that's the name) near library but unsure if it needs volunteers.

Thanks 12mum!

I suddenly realised there's a lack of senior activity centres/clubs in spore to promote healthy & active aging when checking them out for my mom. Some MPs are now calling for more such facilities. I hope there will be more in time to come.

Hi,
My Mum joins in the activities of Lions Befrienders, they do craft to sell for charity and they organize regular outings for them.
Here's the link:

The nearest for your mum would be AMK I guess.
Hope this helps. My mum enjoys the activities.

My mum does line dancing at CCs. Normally it's about 2 hours. So she goes to 2 CCs to maximize it. There may be mass performance sometimes or tea dances but these are either indoors or at night. Keeps her healthy and mobile.

how about scrap booking? I recently made one for my mom for a gift. She was 81. In it I put special memories of her life she absolutely loved it! if you could involve family with this project it would be even better. This might became a really great family activities!

Good to check HPB website. They have many activities now! My mum joins her own line dancing group... only 1 hour but the lunch etc after that will add up to half a day. Hope you find something in TPY!
