Googled results - Researchers have found that some foods -- such as fatty fish, walnuts, oatmeal, and oat bran, and foods fortified with plant sterols or stanols -- can help control your cholesterol. Some studies have shown that a diet combining these "superfoods" may work as well as some cholesterol-lowering medicines to reduce your "bad" LDL cholesterol levels.

My DH also advised to watch his cholesterol levels at recent checkup. Doc recommended him to try the Nestle Omega plus milk powder cos it contains the plant sterols.

I thought it is more what type of food to avoid or to reduce intake, rather than what to eat to lower. :?

tankee, the first part you mentioned is on prevention, the sharing here is more on cure i.e to reduce the cholesterol already accumulated in the body..

Understand that 'tianqi' (chinese herb) is good to lower cholesterol. Just bought some (in capsule form) from Eu Yan Sang. Will see if this helsp lower DH's high cholesterol.

My fav food is mushrooms and based on what I read from web, it does help to lower cholesterol. Still I say, moderation is key!

DH had slightly raised cholesterol in his last checkup. The doc recommended Omega3 supplements.

Well if you ask the older folks, they will have a plethora of remedies, garlic, celery, hawthorn berry, black fungus, green tea, black tea.

Cut back on fried food and red meats, eat more fish (steamed) and vege. Exercise.
