Hello and good morning :imanisland:

I have bought some tuna fish steaks.

Can anyone share any tried and tested recipe as this the first time I will be cooking it.

Many thanks in advance

Been wanting to share this recipe ....

Finally found a recipe to cook tuna steaks after ploughing through my numerous cookbooks.

Blackened Tuna with Strawberries

60g unsalted butter
Strawberries, hulled and cut (amount is up to you)
1/2 tsp ground cumin*
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon*
1/2 tsp ground marjoram*
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper*
1/2 tsp Ground black pepper*
Tuna steaks
Oil

* I tend to adjust the amount according to taste

1. In a small frying pan over low heat, melt the butter and sauté the strawberries until soft. Set aside.

2. Mix the spices mentioned above and season the tuna generously with the mixture.

3. Pan fry the tuna until cooked, about 3 to 4 minutes. (I used a grill pan)

4. Garnish the tuna with strawberries and serve.

Note: I placed the sliced tuna steaks on a bed of lettuce and poured the
sauce over. I served it with couscous.

Recipe is from Low Carb Cookbook by Paul Morgan.

Cannot overcook... should leave the middle of the fish abit raw coz the residual heat after removing from the pan will continue cooking it.

Haven't cooked raw tuna before coz scared of mercury levels.

Ok, I wanted to share that I have discovered using wheatgerm instead of breadcrumbs to coat my fish and pan frying it produces a nice texture - is it the correct term?

I mixed some dried herbs with the wheatgerm before coating the fish with it and pan frying it.
