Food to stimulate brain development!

Postby Cathy Wu » Mon Jan 09, 2012 6:03 pm

Feeding our children the right kind of food is very important.

We all want our children to grow smart and alert!

My daugher, Cindy, loves Milk and Yoghurt! I found out that these dairy products helps in the growth of brain cells. Very good for her brain development.

Does anyone here know some other Brain food that you give to your kids?

I give my kids DHA & Calcium supplements as they don't drink enough milk.

Food wise, I give a lot of fish, dark green vegetables, beef, eggs, banana etc.

You mean your kid getting the nutrients from your breast milk? He can if you eat enough of the food containing DHA, Omega 3 etc. If your diet is not nutritious enough, you are better off converting him to formula growing up milk now since he is a year old. As they say, rubbish in, rubbish out. If you eat very well, then your milk should be ok as long as you expose him to the food types mentioned in his solid food intake.

Some other foods that is best for your kids brain are the following:

1. Salmon!!
2. Eggs
3. Peanut Butter
4. Whole Grains
5. Oatmeals
6. Berry
7. Beans
8. Colorfule Veggies

The human brain is only 2 % of the total body weight, yet it needs roughly 20% of the total calorie intake in order to function correctly.

Bananas, fish eyes (sorry for grossness but it's true!) and also omega 3 supplements. but personally i don't really like feeding my children with too many supplements, prefer real good food!
