I used to frequent this claypot rice stall in the basement of China Square food centre when I was working in that area. I think the name of the stall is Lau Pa Sat Claypot Rice.

I'm a big fan of claypot rice & this stall served one of the best I've had.

When I was in the area recently, I was very disappointed to find that the food centre was gone! In it's place is a small food court and the claypot rice stall was no more!!

Does any kind soul out there know where the stall is now........ pray tell :please:

If you still can't find it, I know of a popular one in Clementi that you can try!
But i prefer to call earlier to tapau back because got to wait long long if you eat there. Must ask DH for the block no if u interested...

There's another pretty good one at the corner of Lorong 33 Geylang. It's so popular that they took over the old aquarium store beside it to expand into an air-conditioned eating area.

Can call to tapau? Please give contact number. The store is pretty good, but the Q, OMG. Went there once and waited like more than an hour and its late afternoon, not peak meal hours.

TIA

I think most claypot shops give out telephone numbers for you to call, so that they have 30mins to cook the thing for you first.

No problem MLR...good things must be shared ! Ya lor - we were told to call at that time! my hub is the one who picked the tapau and he said they don't use normal cooker gas to cook...don't know what they do but i think the preparation method is diff and makes the wait long long! Maybe charcoal??? I was told if you eat there, one must be prepared to wait for at least one hour! I think eating there will taste better than tapau but am put off by the waiting time so never did that. My colleague told me there's another stall near NTUC end so don't go to the wrong place!

Hiya westmom

Yes, they use charcoal, dats why the long waiting time, and they cook only when you order, despite theres a constant stream of orders.

I know the other store you are referring to. Theres kind of a popularity war going on between them. The other store is also not bad, tried it once, cos that time of the better tasting store waiting time is 2 to 3 hrs!

Now that I seldom goes to or pass by Clementi, I miss the food there. Brothers Rojak, Thaksin Beef Noodles, Botak Jones Western Food, the "slowpoke" couple Popiah, Kueh tutu, Lor Mee, fried carrot cake and the satay store in the market....
