Bubble Tea and Pearl Tea

Postby Emelyn » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:23 am

Hi,

DS1 wants to make pearl tea or bubble tea.
And asked me to get the ingredients for him.
Anyone knows where I can get tapioca pearls ?
Phoon Huat?

But Phoon Huat ones are not those QQ types. The original ones from Taiwan much nicer to chew. My DH requested his friend (who went Taiwan for oversea trip) to buy one big packet back but must self cooked la. It really taste different.

One more thing, heard eating those pearls not so good for health. They are made from starch if I'm not wrong. It makes u full but of no nutritious value.

Plus I am quite sure they have some chemical additives to make it more chewy and more "Q"... I don't really dare to eat bubble tea pearls because they feel like some rubbery artificial thing to me!

Healthier option is the white pearl (寒天)
