Just bought a new electric air pot to boil water but the metallic smell lingers in the boiled water even after many rounds of boiling.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this smell and taste in the water?

Had to resort to boiling water in my soup pot for the kids to drink.

Hi, try boiling a full a kettle of water with a spoon of soda bicarbonate... may help.

The instruction manual of my Zojirushi airpot bought at least 20 years ago recommended using citric acid. Since then, I have been using it to clean the airpot once in a while, it helps to remove the stains in the airpot. Bought the citric acid from Phoon Huat.

Simply add 1 tbsp of citric acid to the water, let it boil, discard the water and reboil another lot for drinking.

The other time I cleaned an electric jug with plastic internal with lemon slices. Ended up with a lemon taste in the water. My children did not like the aftertaste.

I agree with Jennifer. Somehow lemon slices gives a funny aftertaste to the water.
