I had the mayer chinese wok, which I find it cumbersome to wash. Too heavy and big. And I need to monitor the fire closely, as the wok get heated up quite easily.
Subsequently I bought Happycall diamond wok..really like it. It does not take up too much space nor burn food. I love to use it to stir fry pasta or noodles, as food will not stick, quite easy to maintain. I also use less oil in my cooking. But for certain dishes like fried rice, I prefer to use wok, as I like to see the rice grain "dancing" on the wok, taste better too. I also use the Happycall to do shallow fry and deep fry, but maintaining the temp is tricky as it takes a while for the oil to heat up and cool down. As it is shallow than the conventional wok, so there is tendency to have oil splitting out occasionally. Anyway, I hardly cook fried food, my standard procedure is to brown the food in the wok and then bake them into the oven to get the crispy texture.
Note that the coating is not lasting..started to have tiny blister marks on the "star" considering that I use it almost daily.I replaced it with K art wok when I saw that it was on promotion in NTUC last month. Much cheaper than Happycall and also lighter. In term of functionality, I find it both on par. I deliberately bought the same size as my happycall so that I could recycle the glass cover. I prefer the glass cover from Happycall, the workmanship and quality seems to be better.

I use Berndes wok. Light and non stick.
Use for a couple of years. Have not faced much problem with peeling of the surface.

:thankyou:

Where can I find Bernde woks ?
My DH has QC on wok , so some woks like Tefal non-stick cannot passed
My 10yo DD is keen to learn cooking , so is looking for a good non-stick wok .
My friend is using the black wok that most fried bee hoon stalls are using , which can be bought at HBD household shops, cost less than $10. She said is good . Anyone using it ?
Any other Chinese wok to recommend ? Cast iron ?
Many thanks for your feedbacks.

Those black woks sold in HDB are non seasoned cast iron. They are good but needs effort to season with oil (lard). They are heavy & if not used often may rust. They are not non stick but definitely do not stick as much as stainless steel. You definitely still need to use oil to fry the eggs & some skill when frying fish.
Bernedes can be found at Tangs, Isetan and Taka.
