Hello everyone

i would like to find out what kitchen appliance do you normally use to cook up your meals.. i am a cooking idiot and hope to pick up some tips from the forum. Currently i am using 3-tier steamer to steam rice, soups & other steam-able foodstuff. I love this eqpt coz its fuss-free and my kitchen wont grease.
Now i would like to try on other food like chicken nuggets/luncheon meat stuff. Conventional methods would mean fry on nonstick pans but i would have to clean the kitchen even to cook just a few pieces. Some pple tell me get microwave but another group of pple tell me its not good to eat radiation... i am confused :? . Whats the best appliance you would recommend? Thanks in advance for your sharing

I use wok, oven, pressure cooker most of the time. Microwave is only for reheating. I usually avoid frying.

Utensils are worth discussing.

Radiation issue of microwave is just a STUPID claim.

Another item or two worth getting would be the thermal pot and the multi-function cooker.

I avoid frying too, and my chicken wings are grilled in the oven, not fried.

I have a microwave oven, but purely for reheating food. But I prefer to use the conventional steamer because food in microwave oven must be eaten almost immediately.

I hardly use the wok. I even steam rice because I heard that steam rice has better nutrition or else the rice cooker. One other cooking utensil is the broiler. I marinade chicken with teriyaki sauce and just use it to cook. No need to clean the floor.

haha, great to find this thread. guess most of us are so busy with work and kids that cooking plus cleaning up after that (cos of all the grease) is a big no-no.

for luncheon meat and sausages, i use convection or convection + grill using my panasonic convection oven which allows me to steam and microwave (for heat up) too. i use convection for baking fish like salmon. just noted that if i smear some olive oil on the fish, it cooks better. i like this oven - quite exp though. spent like $800 on it but quite convenient lor.

steam rice and fish in wok (with water). boil soup in pot. conclusion: i can cook a proper dinner w/o having to mop the floor after that :celebrate:

hi luncheon meat itself contains lots of fat, so can use the convection oven to cook. generally for such processed food, able to cook in oven w/o adding additional oil/fat. but must eat immediately. else not nice. that's the only downside.

I don't even have a steamer but I usually steam meat or veg (eg brinjal or lady fingers) in the rice-cooker when I cook the rice.

I have a toaster where I put the frozen nuggets or sausages. The good point is hassle free. No oil is needed.

Talking about luncheon meat, use a little or no oil in the wok and fry it slowly. The remaining oil can be used to stir fry veg.

I usually cook soup where I dump minced meat and veg into the pot.

The last thing I want is to spend long hours in the kitchen to prepare meals.

My wife has a pan that like shell, so it has a pair of pan actually and when she cooks, the stove seldom get dirty. It could be used for frying fish as we could turn/cook on both saide of the pan.

Do you know the brand/model? I'm interested as I really hate cleaning up the walls and floors after cooking. Is the pan heavy since it is "double-sided"? Any website? TIA. :)
