Methodist Girls' School (Primary)

There's nothing quite like being able to discuss issues and network with other parents with children in the same school as yours. Individual Schools' Official Parent Support Groups are welcome to come in and help out the incoming groups of parents.

Thank you so much!
Yup, we are a English and Chinese (sometimes) speaking family.
Sent the kids for Chinese and phonics classes when they were younger. I make sure they spend an equal amount of time reading English/Chinese books too!
I know that MGS really requires good command of English. I hope that by enforcing bilingualism at home will benefit her!
Also, quick question:
For CCAs, how does one choose it? Need to attend auditions for primary school? TIA.
You should ask your P4 daughter.

Hi everyone, my DD is MGS primary 4 - which means that academic demand is higher in P5. currently, she does not have any tuition and is still coping fine. I heard from my friends that P5 subjects will be a big difference, harder / more demanding in general. Can someone recommend me good tuition centres for Maths & Science? We live around Bukit Timah area. I know that Learning Lab is well known for producing top students. Any opinions? Thanks in advance

My P4 girl is mid-stream transfer student though. She did not need to attend any auditions. I only had to email the HOD to select her CCA.
But I heard from a friend that CCAs like dance need to audition (back in 2014). Not sure if its still applicable now.

Hi,

Has anyone successfully transferred to MGS?
What is a strong enough reason to build my case for transfer?
Would appreciate some guidance on this as I have not been successful.
Please PM me any useful information.

BTW, is there stats for MGS balloting 2021? I saw online 2B and 2C both 27 seats each and 45 and 51 applied respectively. Correct me if I am wrong, I thought 2C MUST have 40 seats to begin with?? Why is it 27 in this case 2021 under new pri school registration?

An additional 20 seats will be added to the 20 places already reserved for Phase 2C, THIS year. So the 40 places in Phase 2C will only come in effect this year.

You have already said correctly the statistics for Phase 2B and 2C for 2021. Balloting happened for those <1km in those cases. The exact number of applicants living <1km is not provided but is usually about 80% of the applicants.
