Singapore Sports School

Having survived PSLE. we still need to network with other parents with kids in the same Secondary school. While giving our teenagers their own space, we can update each other about the school.

Hi one more thing, do you still give allowance to your child? Does he need to have any money on him in case he needs to purchase stationary or other stuff?

Yes, I still give him an allowance.

There are vending machine that sells snacks and soft drinks. Stationary can be bought from boarding office. There's no school bookshop. He'd hardly need to spend money in school but it'll still be good to let him have some just in case.

Hi Dovetail,

My son has been offered a place at SSP for Fencing, and we've accepted it. :)

He'll be going for the Induction Camp next week, and he's so excited about it!

Sports School says it found no evidence against ex-coach

By Chan U-Gene

Two years ago, there were rumours circulating in Singapore's swimming fraternity of an allegedly inappropriate relationship between a male coach and one of his female swimmers.

Nothing became of it at the time. But the issue has now resurfaced, with talk of a poison pen letter in circulation as well as a photograph showing the pair in what some say is a compromising situation.

Late on Tuesday night, the Singapore Sports School issued a statement which indicated that the coach concerned had been a member of its staff.

Its spokesman said: 'When our school heard about the rumours of the alleged liaison that surfaced during a major Games involving a coaching staff (member) of our school and an athlete in the national team, we took the matter seriously.

Hi, im new here. My son is very incline towards sports. So im thinking of sending my son to the sports school. Is there any good or bad advise for me? Hows ur child boarding life there? Are ur children able to cope with studies and sports over there? I heard that the sports school is very public as there are other athletes coming in to train as well, a private company running swimming classes is even there. Will the security of the student-athletes over there be compromised? Can someone enlighten me on the subjects over there? I heard theres a new subject called PE. Whats that? Normally how many subjects do they take usually? What are the textbook they use? I know that there is alot of questions to answer but please help me. I dont want my child to go to the wrong school. thanks :)

Wrong school? oh noooooooo!! Sport school had shaped my boy becoming more independent and discipline. Thousand of students coming in for trial just to get in to the school. My boy is in Sec 1 for Soccer Academy this year and since then hes been consistence on his study and his loves for soccer. For a start, he's been active in soccer since P5(CCA)-school team and hes been chosen for a 2 years programme organise by MOE- JSA (junior sports academy-soccer). Since then, hes had dream to get in to sports school. SPORTS schools had motivate him to work 101% harder for his PSLE. When we went to the open house, SO attracted to the school, facility, boarding area so perfect but we were stressful thinking IF our SON gonna CHOSEN. It will break his heart if hes not the one BEcause of the HUGE crowd. One phone call from the school had changed him. I am so grateful that my son is one of 17 boys (SOCCER ACADEMY) that been chosen among THOUSANDS of students in singapore. So grateful to the teachers and staff for taking good care of the students while they are boarding. They are well taken care off in school..
