School of Science and Technology

Having survived PSLE. we still need to network with other parents with kids in the same Secondary school. While giving our teenagers their own space, we can update each other about the school.

Got the CO for SST as well.

Any parents using private bus transport for the morning trip from Yishun/north area to SST?

The morning trips are probably fixed in timing. For the return trips, perhaps my son will take the public transport back or get mummy to pick him up.

Congrats to all who has received a CO for SST.
My son is in P5 and he is very keen to apply for this school next year. May I ask - with the new DSA portal in place, did you still need to submit a very extensive portfolio? Is SST looking for a personal statement? Thanks in advance.

My son only submitted his certificate for the Math and Science Olympiad participation, he did not win any medal except for the p6 math olympiad (Bronze), but the p6 math olympiad result was only released after the portfolio submission. Other than that, his Math is AL1 consistently through the years, whereas his science hovers between AL 2-3 in p5/p6. His school science teacher in p5/p6 was always on leave/mc, so he have some difficulties catching up on science. The extended HBL due to COVID also didnt help much.

I do think that SST probably place more emphasis on the phase 1 and 2 e-quiz/challenge, especially the phase 2 , where the applicant participate in grp discussion to solve a grp task etc. So it's important that the applicant is confident enough to speak up and also take into consideration other participants' input.

As parents, we didnt prep my son for any DSA, we just seek his opinion if he would like to try for SST DST, since he have interests in Math/Science, solving math prob and he's always asking question about science and strong interests in reading up science magazine. He have no tuitions since pri 1, so it's all his personal effort that he was able to get the SST CO.

Thanks for your comprehensive answer Wilscrub! Remarkable results without tuition is really something.
Good luck for his coming PSLE!
Stay safe everyone!

Hi parents,

Wondering if anyone is able to share their DS/DD experience with the Secondary 3 admission? My #2 has a CO from SST which we will definitely be accepting and right now, #1 is considering to seek a transfer to SST too. #1 was an average student in primary school but right now, is a straight As student for core subjects (EL, MT, Maths, Science, History, Geog and MSP). I wondering if we will stand a good chance seeking this transfer?

DS got a WL offer. Anyone knows what's the typical chances of a WL converted to CO for SST? He really hopes to go in as he wants to pursue applied learning.

If he really wants to go in, then put in down in the selection. There is a good chance that many of them applied for both sst and nush, since they attract students who are strong in math and science. So thise who got co for both may likely opt for nush, thus giving a spot to wl.

monday starts later. i do heard of a parent who stays in sembawang uses private bus. i stay sembawang too. but we send our son to school in the morning, and he will take public transport back after school.

private bus bus might need to wake up earlier, if the bus have to travel a few locations to fetch other students.
at present, my son wakes up at 635am on mon and 550am on tue. enough time to bath and eat something before leaving the house.
