Catholic High School

Having survived PSLE. we still need to network with other parents with kids in the same Secondary school. While giving our teenagers their own space, we can update each other about the school.

You're most welcome..

How are your boys doing in school so far ? Do you find school life @ CHS rather "relaxed", compared to other sec schools ? My boy is in year-2 and he still plays soccer after school almost everyday.. :faint:

I do wish there's a Parent-Teacher Meeting after MYE for parents to discuss any matters/issues with teachers.
Lol he will continue to play for next 2 years.. Cath high is lax like that...

CHS is not always so lax lah. Those students who do not perform well will get "invites" from teachers for parents to attend the PTM. It's just that most of us have not kenna yet...

I also wish that I can go for PTM this year. I understand from my boy that the marking scheme for the Yr 2 EL paper is extremely strict this year, with many having their grades dropped by one or two I wish to query and confirm with the teacher on this but so far have not received any
"invite" yet.

Hi IFirefly,

I didn't find it relax though, maybe because son's cca is 3 times a week.
At least, your son is playing soccer in school. My frds kids from other schools hang out at the malls instead.....

I was still hoping that there is a PTM this term.

Btw, i understand in the 2nd Half of the year, they will be doing physics.
So for the Year end exams, will they be tested on Biology & Chemistry that they have studied in the 1st Half of the year?

Hi cfftan..

The school will schedule dental appointments for the boys during school holidays. If the boys can't make it for the scheduled appointment, they can make appointments to see the dentist on another day / at another time. The boys can also walk-in to see the dentist during school hours, if the clinic is open and the dentist is available.[/quote]

:thankyou:

Hi KidCat..

My boy told me the EL paper was a 'killer' and the marking was extremely strict. He said his classmates who usually score A1/A2 for EL, got B3 this time. My boy's EL also dipped by almost 10 marks. At first, I thot he was just giving excuses. So now, can I minus-2 from his EL grade to feel better ?

I can't rem if the result slip shows the level's highest & lowest, mean & medium scores for each subject, and the percentile our boys are at. Hopefully, it does.

Hi Smurfs..

My boy's CCA is also 3 times a week, but he still has energy (& time) to play soccer after CCA..

Yes, it's definitely better that our boys are playing in school than hanging out at malls. I've noticed that CHS boys don't really like to hang out at malls. I hardly see them loitering around Junction-8.

For EOY Science exam, only Physics will be tested (if there's no change from last year)..

Yes, it is a fun school.

My DS was from CHS Primary. He insisted on going back to CHS Secondary although I tried to persuade him to go to a "better" school. He said he saw the CHS Secondary boys enjoying their school life, are very happy, and he can see a lot of camaraderie in them. There is no competitive mood at all. And that was what he likes.

DS says he enjoyed himself very much now. Although school work can be tough, esp with all the projects, but he enjoys the friendships.

He & his friends also stays back & play at the fitness corner in the school. They also don't hangout at J8.

Yes, I also saw a lot of other nearby schools' students hanging out at J8.

CHS seems not to be very strict with hp usuage? Or is it all the same in other sec sch? DS said that most of his classmates stayed in classrooms over recess and played hp games.
