Nan Chiau High School

Having survived PSLE. we still need to network with other parents with kids in the same Secondary school. While giving our teenagers their own space, we can update each other about the school.

The school emphasis too much on Mother Tongue and they lack in English. Most of their students speak Chinese most of the time. Their English standard is not there.

As for those taking HCL, Sec 3 comes if you do not achieve their bench mark A1, not even A2, all your 3 years of hard work in HCL, the NCHS will ask your child to drop. They will give their stupid excuses like oh you can't do well in HCL to get A1, how about your other subjects. We meant well for your child. You may read the previous post by some parents who were angry over this issue.

As for other schools, so long you pass your Chinese. You are allow to continue your HCL. The 2 marks deduction is very very useful if your child wants to go JC.

Think carefully if you want your child hardwork go down to the drain. It so happen this year 'O' Level Chinese is easy. Many get A1 and A2. You can't guarantee for your child when he/her year comes, right!

Is good to have good Chinese background. In the future, when your child goes for job interview. Ask yourself, interview speak English or Chinese?

Sorry to tell u that its not true St Nicholas' Girls requires the students to get A grade in MT to continue HMT in Sec 4.
My gal's frd got B3 yet she continued HMT. No appeal needed.
Sng never sets such rule.

We are here talking about NCHS bench mark A1 for HMT not St Nick bench mark. Every SAP school has different bench mark.

In order to clarify, is better go to the Open House talk to P & VP.

Hope I have clear the air.

To be honest as a 南侨人 lah uh:

Actually the reasons are NOT excuses, as if you can't even ensure that you can master the language at the basic level, what for you go for the advance level and put unnecessary burden on urself? Expecially what if you cant even make sure you passed HCL, isnt it 两边不讨好?

Speaking on the terms for NCHS, you can appeal to take HCL if you are a B3 or B4 (then it will be case by case review le), the chers will help you all the way till the day you step into the exam hall to take HCL, but whether you score is really depends on ur language standards (exp if its that you didt perform well for CL "by accident"). Tho fortunately my peers that choose this did secure the scores lah so not so bad.

So is really depends on ur ability and considerations lah to me.... if ur language ability can allow and you are disciplined enough den okay no issues.

True.
Think about it, are you willing to leave your o level chinese as C6 & continue taking higher chinese during sec 4, wondering whether you are manage to pass with all the competition from ip students? You can't take o level chinese and at the same time taking o level higher chinese at sec 4. MOE does not allowed that. It does not only apply to SAP schools, it's apply to all sec students taking HMT.

Please noted that higher chinese sec 3 express students need to clear their o level chinese before they can proceed to take sec 4 o level higher chinese.
Ip students only require to take o level higher chinese during their sec 4.

Any information stated wrongly, feel free to clarify.

Just found something that might be useful for all here.

Quite updated and indeed the sheltered routes given for buses are reasonably accurate.
