Regarding the closing date for application to YLL, does it apply to all students? I rbr seeing that nush students are to apply in nov-dec 2022 but DS says deadline is this month.
NUS and NTU has a different closing dates. The application date for both school of medicine for NUS High School Diploma have closed. You can check the dates for NUS & NTU here: -

NTU LKC Medicine https://www.ntu.edu.sg/admissions/under ... -9EALw_wcB

Hi,

Is there any diff for a doc who grad from local
Uni vs one who grad from overseas uni (of course one that is recognized by MOH)? I’m asking this in terms of both working in a public hospital upon graduation.

Generally the FAQ can be googled. Of cos' local medical students will have better advantage over local overseas graduated medical students. Local students have better exposure to our patients, culture and the specific systems of practice here. The local overseas students may have adapted a separate approach on medical knowledge, culture and systems over there.

If there are back to practice here, they have to be acclimatized to the way we practice and the systems to adhere here. Singapore MOH welcome these overseas students to be back to contribute their know how and ease our hospital resources.

No he has not. NUS stated they will only notify after closing date. But for NTU’s LKC school, some of his classmates were notified to attend its MMI.
It seems due to BMAT score or one of the section in BMAT was done well.

Yup. It is a great feeling to be selected but it can be very unfortunate when you don't get selected at the end.

Personal statement if Any, references and MMi are all important factors.

Good luck for your child

Has anybody/DS/DD taken UCAT before? I read that you receive your results on the spot. Can share your experience?
Not sure if the UCAT for UK is same for NTU. Like BMAT, NTU had specific date that you take. A bit disadvantage for gals as they have to take in the midst of As.

UCAT is needed for some unis in UK. Most students who don't take H2 bio will have to take UCAT.

Yup. UCAT results are immediate... easy or not, I can't say as it was taken by my child

There are around 200 returning docs every year. Overseas uni places are competitive as well. There are disadvantages such as residency, conversion. If you do overseas, IMHO is that you don't come back till u get consultant status which means you forgo any grants.

For local, guys tends to have some disadvantage due to NS liabilities when it comes to residency. But I do believe that you seek what you want, you still could get it but a longer route.

Medicine as a course is very different from others in the way they teach, play and tests..

Joining a medical degree is very competitive but possible. It seems like the preparation has to start early as there are many tricks on How to prepare for getting a Medicine degree admission in Singapore. Especially getting into Duke NUS is for graduate students only and with some help you can learn to find out How to get admission to Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore?
