Question about CL in JC

Postby kloh » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:42 am

hi, first post :D

Today, my son took his 'O' level HCL paper. He say he did badly for it, because he read the zuowen question wrongly and then li ti. :( Can someone please advise on his options for taking CL in JC? He's in an IP course now.

He doesn't want a C in his A-level cert, so he probably need to take CL paper again next year. Questions:

1. Can he take the CL paper as a private candidate (not affiliated with schl) and then use that result on his A-level cert?'
1b. If can take as private candidate, when is the earliest he can retake?
2. In JC does he have to take HCL 'O' lvl or CL 'A' lvl to count in his A-level cert? He say today got some JC kids also taking the HCL 'O's with the rest of his cohort.
3. Is he forced to take H1 CL in JC if he wants to retake Chinese paper for A-levels? Can he do OTOT studying and then just take with the rest of them?

Help is appreciated :D

No worries. Need not retake as O-level HCL result is not reflected in his A-level cert. In addition, his mark will also not be included in his uni rank pts.

However, he needs to retake if he is now in HCI-min grade B4.

Ok thanks :D He's not in HCI, the school's requirement to move on is only D7, so that should be fine. In this case, what other purposes might the O-level HCL results have?

Cheers :celebrate:

Unis' entrance requirement in line with MOE's bilingual policy.
