Is PSLE score 232 good enough for VJC Integrated Programme?

Postby Wanna232 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 5:07 pm

Dear KiasuParents users,
My son got an aggregate score of 232 for PSLE and he wishes to apply for the VJC Integrated Programme but the conditions to get in require a "good"PSLE result. Do you think my son can apply for the programme with 232? Many thanks.

Actually the VJC Integrated Programme (VIP in short) application has 2 broad stages. First, your son will send in a form, and he will be required to sit for a test. If he gets through this round, he will be called up for an interview with the teachers.

I do not think that his PSLE score will affect his chances to a great extent, but do be aware that many of the successful applicants are top students from schools in the east, mainly VS, Cedar Girls', TKGS. So if he really wants to get into VIP, he must have good results from his current sec school. Recommendation letters from his current school will also be beneficial in his application, so if his teachers are able to provide a strong testimony, his chances are definitely higher :)

Good luck with your son's application!

Shouldn't be a problem if he has been doing well in Sec 1/2! :)

Your son can apply for VJC intergrated program but his chances might be slim, depending on his current secondary school, CCA records and Secondary 1 & 2 results.

VJC is all affiliated to VS which require students to have a minimum of 246 for PSLE to enter. The mean and median are as respectively, 251 & 250. Therefore 232 is on the lower end.

Still, the most important would be the results (Secondary 1 + 2) as well as the EAT & MAT which will be administered in May.

You may wish to highlight where possible and applicable, interest and/or talent in debate, dance or drama.

Good luck!

232. To be honest quite difficult.

There are too many above this score

My apologies to burst your bubble. Chances are almost close to zero. =(
