Should I go ?

Dear Uncles and Aunties

I just finished my O Level. I am expecting to get L1R5 around 10 points. I also have two points deduction for CCA and another 2 points deduction if I apply for SAJC.

I don't think I will be able to get into HCI or RI or NJC or VJC or ACJC with a net score of 8 points.

I hope to do medicine for my degree course but it seems impossible to get into NUS Medicine School, even the lowest entry score is AAAA.

I have the opportunity to go to UK to do my A level in a private school with prep course for medicine schools in UK. If I go in Jan 2012, I will be able to enter uni first year in Sept 2013.

Should I go ?

Thanks to all uncles and aunties who help me to decide.

Go! But check if the medical degree is recognised in Singapore first.

GO if you have papa mama scholarship from parents who can well afford - no strings attached. And if medicine is your passion, pursue it! It is v v v v difficult to get into NUS medicine even if you have AAA/A or AAAA/A. At least a thousand+++ local A level takers will achieve 4As for 4 H2 core subjects. But enrollment to NUS medicine is only 260 (current) with ard half from Raffles family. So majority 4 straight As (H2) students will be rejected. If you can enter UK Medicine 1 year earlier, why not. Yes please please check if recognized by Singapore and major cities. Can you please share which UK prep school you are considering going? In case we aunties and uncles also have to consider this route next time for our DD/DS :moneyflies:

I'm not the person who originally asked the question but I know of a few people who went to Cardiff Sixth Form College and Concord College (Shrewsbury) when they were going that route.

Both schools sometimes have representatives coming down to Singapore so you might want to check http://www.overseaseducation.sg/asedu/en/index.asp for more info.
